It was 1979 in Charleston, SC when Koichiro Hirao opened Kyoto Japanese Steakhouse. There weren't many "Japanese" restaurants then. Mr. Hirao had a dream of sharing the food he loved with more than just his friends and family in Charleston.
His dream of excellent quality are why we to this day make all our sauces in-store each morning. We take pride in what we serve by sourcing the best quality ingredients we can find. That doesn't mean you'll have to wait around for a show. Our Hibachi Chefs keep the line stocked and ready for your order.
It's our mission to continue Mr. Hirao's vision and to share the resulting great taste with everyone we can.
