What a great display of model trains in all different gauges! Be sure to walk into the gallery behind the initial displays you have to walk between the displays - it's pretty well hidden! Some layouts were fairly basic, others were very detailed. Some were whimsical, and others were very realistic. My only disappointment was that different gauges were mixed within some layouts... However, space is limited. Some displays are seasonal, and some feature tie-ins to current exhibits found elsewhere in this marvelous piece of architecture. And, what better place to have a display of model trains, than in one of our country oldest railway stations still in service, today!
Wonderful exhibit with lots to see and enjoy. Our young children spent 30 minutes inside looking at the thousands of details at each train table/showcase. We highly recommend this as a stop to see for train enthusiasts, children, and anyone who respects the time and effort put into model displays.
I love this exhibit. They have every guage of model train imaginable from Z to O. There are at least 5 different layouts to look at. Also very kid friendly environment.
This is one of our go to hidden gems to take the kids. They especially love the Thomas train! The volunteers who pour their time into every detail of the exhibit shows. Love how the scenes are updated for the seasons.
Hidden treasure. The exhibits are great and all done by volunteers. The volunteers love for trains, is on full display with the exhibits they have created.
A neat display of trains. Volunteers clearly put in a lot of work and care for the exhibits. It's free to get in, but there's a suggested donation. It can take you 5 minutes to walk through or an hour. Kids and adults alike will appreciate it.
Loved visiting here! I have always loved trains so it was really nice to visit here. Seeing model trains is always a good time. Its a great experience for visitors of all ages. I definitely want to visit here again. Trains are just so much fun!
Great for people of all ages! Legoland train display and Lego Union Station model, Thomas the Tank Engine and superheroes and the huge Lionel display are just a few of the things you'll see.
Massive layout with a big variety of trains. Fantastic experience for kids and adults alike. We make sure to visit multiple times a year.
One of my son's favorite museums. In the winter time they have a miniature train that kids can ride. My son has a blast whenever we visit, which happens to be 2-3 times a month. A must visit if you are in KC.
