I loved everything about my experience here. Servers were knowledgeable and attentive, the atmosphere was relaxed and I love the whole look of their decor. The food was amazing! Get the beef dumplings, trust me! The flavor was outrageously good! Can’t wait to go back.Food: 5/5
Favourite Korean spot in Providence hands down! I went to RISD and over four years I must’ve been to Mokban dozens of times. My favourite dish is the spicy seafood jjampong, but they’re literally all great. If you don’t like spicy food, the duk man du is nice and hearty. If you don’t like fish, the tofu japchae is delicious and light. If you’re dining with a friend, the buddae jjigae and rice cake casserole are both so so good. The appetisers are also fantastic - I like the seafood pa jeon, the spicy wings, and the seaweed salad my personal fave. I would recommend getting the plum or yuzu hot tea to round off your meal. Pictured are the seafood jjampong, seafood pa jeon, and the wings. Vegetarian options: Most of the menu features meat or fish.
Overall: disappointing food, great interior design and quick service Came on a Friday night, was seated quickly. Ordered the yuzu aloe soju cocktail and soondubu jjigae silken tofu soup. The drink: sweet and mild, not as citrusy as I had hoped. Probably would’ve enjoyed a bottle of soju more and with more bang for the buck, but there was no way I was drinking a full bottle of soju on my own! The food: Let’s start with the banchan. It was the least flavorful banchan I’ve ever eaten. I wasn’t expecting it to be on par with the banchan in Korea, but I’d hoped it would at least measure up to banchan in Michigan. The potato just tasted like potato salad, the broccoli had a slight “Korean” flavor, and while the bean sprouts appear to have flavor they don’t actually taste like anything. The cucumber banchan has some pickled flavor and was the best of the set. Despite my grumbling, the soondubu had pretty good flavor. While it wasn’t customizable in flavor like most soondubu I’ve had, it had a good kick to it! The beef was a little tough, though. Dessert: green tea affogato. The ice cream was quite frozen but the espresso helped cream creaminess.
Took my mom out for lunch and we enjoyed our meals. I ordered the Beef Bulgogi and it was very tender. Love the ambiance too. My only suggestion is that my Mom got her order 10 minutes before mine so we didn’t eat at the same time. Would be nice to have been served at the same time.Food: 4/5
A piece of Seoul in the heart of Providence. We were very impressed with the quality, service and heartiness of the meals we tried. Dumpling soup was well balanced, but fiery chicken is the one to go for if you are able to take in the spices. Ideal for children if going for lunch. We are going back there at the very next opportunity
My husband and I were in the mood to try a new restaurant to eat and we discovered this one on Google Maps, and it had great reviews. We had a little bit of difficulty finding parking because it's a bunch of one ways with street parking. It was easy to pay for the street meter online with our phones and cheap. The restaurant has a chill vibe going on when you enter inside. We decided to dine inside since it was warm out, but you can eat outside if you want to, which is neat. Everyone was polite and courteous. We could tell our waitress was learning, but she was really sweet. The other girl training her was very patient with her and I liked seeing that. The food comes out in these big, spill catching trays. They were really cool and the food was amazing! We left full from soup! It was great. We also tried the KFC chicken. Sooooo good!! Everything was great except the strange homeless woman outside on the corner next to the restaurant. I know that's not the restaurant's fault, but she weirded me out with how she was acting. It was almost slightly uncomfortable having to walk by her to go inside the restaurant. Just a warning to anyone visiting or working in the area to be careful because you never know what people are going to do these days.
We got some lunch specials and they were all so good and comfy on a winter dayFood: 5/5
Wonderful experience. The atmosphere and food were both amazing. We had the KFC Korean fried chicken as an appetizer. The chicken is perfectly crispy and has a sweet glaze on it. The Pork Rib Kalbi was my main, and the ribs were perfectly tender, the sauce having just the right amount of spice. Apparently the sides Banchan is the actual term for the small sides I believe vary depending on the day, but we had spinach, kimchi veggies I believe it was cucumber, potato salad, creamed corn, purple rice and soup. The potato salad is nothing like the American style, the potatoes are obviously meant to be the star, and not whatever mayo/relish/mustard combo you're used to. It was light and whatever mayo they used, I absolutely prefer. I'm not a fan of creamed corn so I skipped it, but the spinach was good as well. The kimchi veggies were a surprise to me. I've tried kimchi a few times and assumed it wasn't for me, but I enjoyed the veggies. It was soft and a little sweet from the cucumber, but perfect. The soup was amazing, I wish I asked for the name to replicate it at home. The purple rice was good too, my first time trying it. For drinks we tried a Soju cocktail, blue lemon I believe. Do not let the Soju fool you! It tastes light and refreshing, so much that an American drinker would probably think it was a "weak" drink. But that's the deception of Soju. It sneaks up on you. Our drink tasted like lemonade and the carafe was small so we underestimated it, but we were very nicely buzzed when we left. I've drank Soju before, but never in a cocktail. Very nice experience. When we initially came in around 5, they were playing hip hop, which I'm more than okay with. Very nice vibe if you're a 20 something, which I am. Lots of Drake, Migos ect. Around dinner, it switched to your standard restaurant music, acoustic pianos and things like that. Very enjoyable, especially with the soft lighting. All in all, we will definitely be back. Our service was phenomenal, our food was phenomenal, and the pricing was well worth it. Parking: Downtown Providence parking is horrible. Be prepared to walk a block or two.
I was visiting the town and happened to randomly walk by. But it was a pleasant surprise as the food was authentic and good. I especially liked their kimchi stew, but the others were also good and the food presentation was also neat. Highly recommend.
They’re rather pushy about getting you out the door. Didn’t finish my meal and the server was asking if she could clean up. Gave me the check while I was still eating. Restaurant was not crowded. The hospitality could be improved. Meal was ok. Not the same quality as restaurants in NYC. Ordered the steam pork. A lot chewier than what I’m usually accustomed to.
