We're quite glad to find another authentic Taiwanese eatery in the DC area. Iron Pan Steak with black pepper gravy brought back childhood memories for me and my wife. Our kids enjoyed bento boxes just as well. Popcorn Chicken is as good as any others in the area. The Taiwanese Sausage Hamburger was a little disappointing, though. It came sliced in pieces and took away the fun of eating two types of sausages together like a hotdog on buns.
If you love Taiwanese food and bubble tea, momos cafe is the place to go! I got popcorn chicken, Taiwanese sausages, truffle fries and an iron pan steak, honestly they are all very good! On top of that, I got a green tea milk foam , it’s soooooo good! Highly recommended . My mom got the lemon black tea, she likes mine more lol
Oct 2021 Good tasting food, but very disappointing portion size. We ordered online, so not much interaction with the staff, but the lady was efficient. This is a small cafe, with the entrance a few steps down from the sidewalk. There is currently no dining in, though there are tables outside that you can use. They have a table barrier by the door where you can order and pickup orders. Note masks are required. Also note that if you order online, you cannot pay online. You have to pay in store. The register is deeper inside the store, not by the table barrier, so the staff does take your card and you sign the receipt. As for the food, we mainly came here for the TS hamburger, aka the sausage in a sausage. If you get this in Taiwan, it basically looks like a hot dog, with an inner meat sausage and the "bun" being a rice sausage split open to hold the inner sausage. Presentation is key. How do I know this? Because when I showed my Taiwanese relatives how Momo's serves this iconic Taiwanese street food, I was met with much shock and intense disappointment. Momo's serves it with both sausages sliced up and mixed together. This is wrong, which I have been emphatically informed multiple times. To make matters worse, the portion size was very small. It was half a meat sausage and a very small rice sausage. I could go to an Asian supermarket and get a whole pack maybe two of meat sausages for the same price. The only saving grace was that the TS hamburger tasted good. The popcorn chicken was also good, and the portion size was less of a disappointment. However, I have also been informed that it needs more basil. I personally think it was fine the way it was, but...*shrugs*. Probably won't come back again.
Really disappointed with the beef noodle soup because the broth and noodles felt like grocery store ingredients rather than anything authentic or handmade. Was hoping for something more bold/aggressive. But the bento boxes are huge and fresh and good and from other tables it looks like the sizzling plates and hot pots are also large and fresh and good. Shoyu ramen was a hit with my son though he complained the egg wasn’t runny enough. Service is quick and kind and good. But I think the menu is just too big for them to be able to do it all well. I would return and focus on the bento boxes or the sizzling stuff. Skip the tea as below…. Also disappointed that with bubble tea you can’t adjust sugar levels. Would not return because it’s far from our house but if this were in my neighborhood I would definitely come back!
This might be the best Taiwanese street food in DC area. Love the small and ambient atmosphere. Service is great!
I order from Momo’s before, during and in the aftermath of COVID. I mean I understand inflation is pretty bad and it’s taken a toll on everyone. But look at the amount of braised pork I got from the lunch box last week. I am honestly disappointed and I feel like it is simply disrespectful to give so little when the dishes are already over priced on Ubereats. You can compare my picture to the ones that were shared by others in previous years and see for yourself the difference.
My family and I had a great experience here. Momo cafe has great service, great decor, and most of all great food! We got the momo milk tea, chicken iron plate, popcorn chicken, and Taiwanese sausage and they were all delicious. I would definitely recommend to come here.
First time eating here and the food makes me very nostalgic of my time in Taiwan : It’s a very cute little restaurant!
The watermelon milk foam is the best milk foam I have ever had! The monster ice cream is really cute and very delicious with a very rich taste. Taiwanese specialty snacks taste very authentic. Grilled chicken sandwich is the best sandwich I’ve ever had.
I feel like I'm in Taipei! What a wonderful spot - the pork cutlet and popcorn chicken bentos were a hit with the whole family. The service was friendly and accommodating for our two littles. Love it, and will be returning!Food: 5/5
