Stayed here for 5 days and had wonderful time. Our room got upgraded to a higher floor in the tower and the room was nice, but the view was amazing. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Hotel is beautiful and has a lot of character from the Victorian era. Pool is not that nice, but the beach chairs were available for booking and we enjoyed our time just chilling on the beach. Bar staff were friendly and made great drinks and the food was also very good. Would definitely stay here again.
Such beauty and elegance at this hotel. We stayed there while on our honeymoon I love the architecture of this hotel, it was very romantic. It even has a beautiful art gallery and a lovely gift shop. We had easy access to Waikiki Beach. We really enjoyed our stay in Honolulu! You must experience it at least once!Rooms: 5/5
The hotel was beautiful and our room was amazing. We had unbelievable views. Definitely the best of the three islands we visited on this trip. Service was very good, and they were attentive. Location couldn't be beat. One side the water, and the other side fabulous shopping. We ate breakfast at the Veranda restaurant and it was really, really good. I didn't realize our reservation included breakfast vouchers. But even if it hadn't I would definitely recommend Verandas for breakfast. The first night we ate at the Beach Bar. Nice views, but food and drinks were disappointing. We each got 2 drinks, and neither of us drank them. Then we split a burger and fries and the bill was over $100. Server never checked on us or asked about the still full drinks. And we were disappointed to find that room service was temporarily closed. We had the perfect balconies to have meals on. But overall would definitely recommend the hotel and the Veranda Restaurant.
Wake up, check the surf from your balcony, enjoy breakfast under the banyan tree right on Waikiki beach. Grab a board out front and have a surf. Yes it's old. Rooms are small. The area is crowded. It was built with the nicer rooms facing the mountain side because customers originally arrived by boat and wanted the island view instead of staring at the ocean after months on a ship. If you want a regular hotel room go stay at the Hampton Inn. If you want modern luxury, the four seasons resorts in Hawaii are wonderful. If you appreciate the history and location of this place it's hard to beat.
Oldest hotel in Hawaii and still an outstanding experience. The centerpiece of the courtyard is a massive banyan tree that is beautiful and lit with different colors. They have seating on the beach by the pool and around the tree as well as an outdoor restaurant. Food is excellent. Service is very good but obviously 19. Location on Waikiki Beach is perfect. Walk with everything in the area. My wife loved the view of the water and the sunsets. When you walk up the stairs to the main entrance you can see straight through to the water as all the entries are wide open. Valet parking can take up to 25 minutes to get your car so they warn you to request it early but once again the service is excellent. Self parking is across the street at the Sheraton.
This place is the worst and most poorly staffed hotel you can potentially stay at. You can expect to wait 45 minutes at least for valet to get your car. My six-year-old and I missed our events costing us upwards of $400 because we could not leave in time do to waiting for the valet. The manager then attempted to argue with neon if I made the call to ballet 45 or 40 minutes prior. There was no accommodation and their attempt to fix this. Our vacation was ruined because we could not rebook our adventures because they need to be booked so far out in advance. I am appalled at how service is performed here. Please stay at any other hotel. Especially if you don't mind paying the $50 of the daily valet fee, however you do want valet to actually work when you pay for it. This isn't the first time we have had to change our plans this week due to hotel issues. We did not receive any of the promised packaging along with our membership status when checking in, even though we're paying the resort fees to accommodate for it. We also had issues checking in, using our points and, especially being Platinum elite members. Marriott has become the hotel to avoid. SCAM RESORT. Bad Management. Calling the main customer service line be prepared to wait a half an hour before speaking to a human.
Remember to use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking a place. This web site will compare hundreds of booking websites and typically will have rates much cheaper than others! Thank me later on! This resort is one of my favorites in this area. I have been staying here for a very long time. If you stay for a few days you for sure won't be disappointed. Great location, excellent service, and awesome beach. Bathroom was a little dated, but the bed is comfortable, water is hot, and water pressure was good. Our ocean view room had a beautiful view of Waikiki beach from the balcony. Good on site dining options, especially the breakfast. You're better off going across the street into the International Marketplace for multiple restaurant options for dinner.
Marriott Elites be Warned! Pros: Beautiful historic building. Centrally located. Waitstaff and housekeeping have wonderful attitudes. Cons: Pretty much everything else. Outdated rooms and we were even in the newer tower. Pray that the valet isn’t full, because parking will then be a nightmare. No lounge. But above all, the hotel absolutely refuses to upgrade Elites to the “Best Available Room” as defined in the terms of the Bonvoy program. They play games, relabeling their nicer rooms as “Specialty Suites” and only offering them for paid upgrades. If you read reviews, you will see this isn’t an isolated case but a frequent source of frustration for Marriott’s best customers. Shameful! If you are paying cash, probably doesn’t matter. But if you are spending Suite Night certificates or banking on a complimentary upgrade, look elsewhere. Marriott corporate acknowledged the problem with goodwill points to my account, but are powerless to force the property to play fair.
The good: The staff is friendly. The hotel is centrally located right in the center of town. The hotel common areas inside are beautiful and very high end. The gym is large with high end equipment. The food and drinks are decent. The bad: The beach area designated for the hotel is extremely small. You have to pay for a chair which is 80+ for a full day otherwise you have to sit in the sand on a towel in the public area. The pool is smaller than the one that I have at my home. There is no control regarding entrance to the hotel. People who aren’t staying can walk in and out as they please crowding the already extremely small space for amenities. The service by the pool and beach is very slow. There is one server for the entire area. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel. It is over crowded and overpriced for what you get.
Sheer perfection! Excellent location - beach side! Friendly and helpful staff, no one is phoning it in. Never had to wait for an elevator even when busy. The hotel restaurants were fantastic and the coffee was better than anywhere else we tried. Make your cabana reservations 24 hra in advance at least. Well worth the extra expense. Walkability: Can walk to lots of beach locations and Honolulu zoo 10-15 min.
