Monks Law Firm

My case hasn't been decided yet, but this firm has been incredibly professional and has gone above and beyond to communicate, which is huge to me. I'm old school and think, as long as the lines of communication are strong, almost anything can be resolved. Unfortunately, I think most people have lost sight of this simple, courtesy. Monks Law Firm has definitely been fantastic in communicating all aspects of my case. It may be a bit "cheesy," but I just wanted to say thank you to your entire office for the way I've been treated.

Do NOT hire Monks Law Firm to probate a will. It's bad enough that the bereaved have to go through all the arduous legal hoops and processes to handle the estate of a recently lost loved one, but dealing with this law firm made it so much worse. Our engagement with Monks Law Firm went awry quickly through poor communication, which consisted of no communication at all sometimes, followed by requests for immediate turnarounds from us; asking for information that we'd already clearly provided they told us that they get hundreds of email a day, so they couldn't be expected to keep up with each one; multiple, unnecessary, confusing email threads that often omitted one of the two of us involved discussing information that had already been provided; and meandering, detailed explanations of obvious matters, such as how to find contact information in an email signature. But my family had already signed on with them, so we thought we should just continue through the process with them while dealing with our grief instead of starting over elsewhere. After a month of no progress, we wrote to Monks Law Firm and told them that we no longer wished to work with their firm, and directed them not to proceed with filing the probate application. The paralegal who was handling our case asked us to change our mind, but we politely and clearly declined. The next day, against our explicit wishes, Monks Law Firm began work on our case and filed the application with the court and had it accepted by the county. Despite their seeming efforts to lock us into their services, we expressed our displeasure and requested a refund and immediate stop. We received only a partial refund, and we were told that additional fees would be required to undo the filing they submitted against our wishes. Our family engaged a new firm to take over our case. After a brief conversation with us and a bit of digging on their end, the new firm informed us that we in fact did not need to go through months of probate that Monks Law Firm had advised; instead, we could file a single, immediate document to resolve our case. Any other law firm could and should have looked into the court’s records to see the legal legwork our deceased family had already done to make our lives easier prior to their passing, like the new firm did. So not only did we receive poor quality work from Monks Law Firm, we received lazy at best, malicious at worst legal advice that would keep us unnecessarily engaged with them for a greater amount of time for a greater amount of money. I’m not typically one to write reviews, but taking advantage of grieving people feels worthy of one, so others don’t have to go through what my family did.

When you need a lawyer, don't know where to start. If your are reading this, this is your sign. Mr. Monk will fight your case, and apply pressure when needed. Our family is thankful for his services, will refer anyone who's looking for a lawyer. Don't pass up a good lawyer, looking into another. Go ahead and give Mr. Monk office a call today.
