In the middle of year two studying engineering. Wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Great setting, helpful professors, and fun classes.
Figured I should update this. Graduated in 4 years and had a blast doing it. 10/10 would recommend

Would give 0 stars if possible. Every semester for the past 2 years the school has redone my charges mid semester and made me pay out of pocket up to $3000 after they said my financial aid covered it. Every time I asked why they "weren't exactly sure". Quality of education and the professors were also poor. If you want to overpay for a sub-par learning experience then MSU might be the place for you.

If you are a well-rounded person of any political leaning looking to enter the social sciences to have your ideologies and preconceived notions of the world challenged by being exposed to a wide variety of political thought, open discussion, and civil debate, this is absolutely not the university for you.
If you're a rabid Leftist that's totally consumed by misguided social justice crusades grounded in the ideas of Marxism, simply looking for validation in your beliefs, you'll have a great time here.
I graduated from MSU in 2017 with a degree in political science. I spent three years reading Marx, Chomsky, and Stuart Hall. Never once did any professor -- the supposed academic "experts" -- in the political science department offer up the likes of Solzhenitsyn, Bastiat, or Tocqueville. Any time I pointed out the glaring political imbalance of our reading load, they would say they "weren't familiar with any conservative texts relating to the subject." The social science professors as a whole are willfully ignorant at best and maliciously anti-conservative at worst.
I attempted to start a conservative student group on campus that advocated for a position the University was vocally not in support of -- the Students for Concealed Carry. To be a student group on campus, you need a faculty advisor. I visited close to 100 faculty offices looking for an advisor. I was ridiculed by several professors for advocating such a "dangerous" and "stupid" position. I was called an "idiot" by more than one professor. I found 3-4 professors who agreed with our group's message, but felt they did not have the job security to represent our civil rights group. We were finally able to find a second year, untenured professor willing to sponsor us, simply because he didn't like the fact that we weren't able to have a voice on campus. After not backing down from several threats to his career by the administration for sponsoring our group, he was fired without cause two months into representing us. The University destroyed his career for sponsoring a student group centered around civil rights.
If your son or daughter wants to obtain a degree from MSU in the social sciences, be sure they know to question everything. Every single social science professor has a readily-identifiable agenda if you simply look for it. It was devastating to see, especially in my intro-level classes, so many moderate young people being swayed by the one-sided political ideas presented to us in class.

This campus is known to choose graduation speakers who vehemently attack conservative values. This college refuses to do anything about these types of injustices despite the many calls President Cruzado’s office has received. I am very disappointed to be an MSU alumni, and this campus will not be recieving any donations from me or my family. I would think twice before attending this school because your voice will not be heard.

Mountains and Crimes not Mountains and Minds! MSU is not a safe place for me and in my opinion, American women and minorities should avoid MSU. Here's some of what I went through.
During my first year of graduate school, I was a victim of a crime on campus. I did not know the perp and I was terrified. I requested help dealing with the fear and received none. I was stuck in a referral circle between the VOICE center and counseling services as each place said they didn't have the resources to help me.
While going through this, I still had to be a student and had to take an exam that would determine if I was worthy enough to work towards a PhD. I took the exam and was happy to receive a MS pass but that soon changed after several students separately told me that a male student scored lower than me on the exam and he was given a PhD pass.
At first, I didn't believe it because that is supposed to be private information. However, one student told me an answer I gave to a question because they were discussing it in their group meeting. When I confronted the faculty, they lied to me, so I sued MSU and discovered the gossip was indeed fact.
In an interview for the case, the head of the exam committee, who is now the department head, stated, "We gave him a PhD pass because we felt he suffered from testing anxiety and she needed to work harder."
I left that horrible school to discover that the faculty gossip didn't end with the local grad students. Faculty associated with an organization in my field spread rumors and misrepresented me to other scientists in retaliation for suing them. I was harassed by some of them at meetings and to this day I feel uncomfortable going to them. MSU did nothing to address these behaviors. The only thing that happened was that the US Dept. of Education increased their monitoring of MSU based on my complaint. Most of the faculty that I dealt with still teach at MSU and the school is supportive of them and the sick environment they create.
One of the most important things I've learned about MSU is that when something bad happened to me on their campus, they overwhelmingly demonstrated that they don't care. They went to great lengths to discredit me for advocating for myself and for women in general. I went through hell when I asked for the female PhD graduation rate and they never provided me a straight answer.
They claim to have made changes to "improve" student experiences but they continue to dismiss what happened to me because, "that was in the past, we are better now." What happened to me at MSU could happen to anyone. Advocating for yourself only threatens their sick environment and then you can enjoy a lifetime of harassment. If you grew up in a country where you were marginalized then you'll probably be okay at MSU. I recommend Americans avoid MSU at all costs because our values don't match their values.
