6 weeks - 6 years. Children are the focus. Baby sign language, math skills, language skills, music, art, physical activity are all part of this terrific school. The playground is beautiful. Small children are segregated from older children to maintain proper play levels. In the summer they grow a garden and snack on the fruits of their labor. Weekly summer options are available where a different fun event happens each week. Past events have included a visit from the FBI, nature walks, trips to museums and zoos, a trip to Outback restaurant to learn about Australia (and the children met a real Aussie).
We are a school dedicated to the care and education of children ages six weeks to six years. Opening in August 2005, we cater to families that desire a strong academic foundation for their young children. Utilizing the Montessori Method our teachers receive specialized Montessori training. All teachers are Montessori trained and will receive Montessori (American Montessori Society - AMS) certification
Infant:
The infant environment is set up around the needs of the infant. We provide loving, nurturing, care for your precious child. The Montessori trained teacher sets up the environment to be stimulating and interesting for the infant. The class includes mobiles, books, materials and toys. The infant environment is set up as much like your home environment as possible. In our infant environment we have a sleeping room, a gross motor room, and a work room.
The child, during the first three years, lays the foundation for cognitive growth through all early sensory experiences. The teacher provides the children with toys, books, and materials to help shape their growth and development.
Toddler
Children ages 18 months – 3 years enjoy the environment of the toddler class where they have opportunities to explore and learn about themselves and their environment. Children go about their work period learning to name colors, count objects, blow bubbles, develop fine and gross motor skills and more.
Children enjoy circle time where they learn how to listen, follow directions, sing songs, and enjoy story time.
Children in the classroom are treated with love, care and respect by the Directress and assistant. The class functions as a family and the children enjoy working, playing, dining, and napping together.
Primary
The 3-6 age environment is set up so your child can successfully learn life skills for the best start possible. The areas of the classroom cover all appropriate academic areas.
In the 3-6 classroom your child will have the opportunity to work with other children. As a three year old your child will observe the older children and be helped by them. As a four year old your child will most likely be interested in more academic areas of the classroom, especially reading and mathematics. As a five year old child, your child becomes a class leader as well as a guide for the younger children. Five year old children can stay at MCA for their kindergarten year and in most cases be ready for first grade the following year. Children progress through the materials at their own pace. If your child is advanced in language, material and lessons will be given accordingly. Likewise, if your child takes a little longer to obtain a skill they have the time and material to work on the lesson until it is mastered.
Work time. During work time children choose work
independently. The teacher and assistant work individually or
with small groups to give lessons. A child can choose a work as many times as they would like once they have had a lesson. Children also participate in snack during work time.
