Montessori Children's House 3626 SW Bond Ave PDX
Montessori Children's House opened Sept. 13, 2010 for children 15 months through 5 years of age. We are located in a beautiful new facility on the ground floor of the John Ross Condominium building, directly across from the new Elizabeth Caruthers Park. We are currently enrolling new students.
Easily accessible by Tri-Met bus, the Portland Streetcar and from OHSU via the Portland Aerial Tram, Montessori Children's House is also within a block of SW Waterfront community garden (where the school has it's own dedicated plot for the children to use), several large attractive courtyards, and close to a grassy open area overlooking the Willamette River and Ross Island’s rookeries. One of the important precepts of Montessori is that children experience nature and the outdoors at an early age, accompanied by significant adults in their life who model curiosity and respect for the natural environment.
Experienced Montessori educators from Portland have joined to create an outstanding Montessori school in this exciting new community in the central city. The teachers are trained and certified by the Association Montessori Internationale, the oldest and most rigorous Montessori organization. Head of the school is David Cannon, who has over 25 years of experience in Montessori teaching and administration in the Portland area.
