My two children went to Montessori school for preschool, but when we moved here from north Georgia I enrolled them in our zoned school, which is supposed to be one of the "best" public schools around. What a mistake. after 3 years of foolishness I finally had enough and went looking for an excellent and true Montessori school. There are lots of imposters out there, unfortunately This school has been fantastic in every way and I feel like I got to watch my children get back to normal. They love school and can't wait to go every single day! I am so glad this school is here and my children have a nurturing and enriched, safe place where they can experience the joy of learning every single day.
Our daughter and son have been going to school here for almost two years. It has been a wonderful experience. My children are constantly surprising me with how much they are learning at school, and they really seem to love it here. The teachers and staff are wonderful, kind and generous people who clearly love helping children grow.
My daughter Eanion has been attending Montessori School Of Columbia for 5 years now. Before attending Montessori School of Columbia she was very shy, did not interact with other kids and I was concerned. Wow what a I see now is amazing!! My daughter is now independent, a leader, communicate well with others, her learning development has grown tremendously!!! She loves attending Montessori School Of Columbia, and every day when I pick her up she cannot wait to tell me what she has learned for the day. Karen has definitely picked the right teachers and staff to represent the school. The teachers communicate well with the parents, they want your child to succeed academically and as a person. They are honest, up front and dedicated to your children. Karen the head of the school has a passion for your child to succeed in all areas and she does not play around!!! The only thing I wish is that they offered education at a high school level. If you want your child to have the best education and succeed academically and personally then please consider Montessori school of Columbia. Katina Hart
Excellent school with experienced teachers. Nothing but only good things to say about MSC. My son has enjoyed every day at this wonderful school and we are pleased with his educational growth in just one year! Special thanks to Miss Dixon, Miss Erin and Mr Sidney. Owner, Karen, has great vision for this school and loves providing best possible educational environment to students.
I was blown away by my tour of the school. The head of school, Ms. Karen, was brimming with pride and enthusiasm during every moment, and rightfully so. The hours I spent touring the school and observing classes passed like minutes. Every student was engaged, every teacher was warm and encouraging. There were no outsiders. Every class felt like walking into a team meeting, where the students and teachers are teammates in learning. I expected to be impressed, but I never expected to be overwhelmed by the actual METHOD. The school's design, physically and psychologically, was conducive to learning, healthy socializing, and being a human being which is an attribute I think a lot of schools have forgotten to attribute to students. I can't wait to go back and have my child experience the school!
I worry words will fall short in expressing my gratitude for this school. The wise, caring, compassionate teachers and their adherence to The Montessori Method have created in my son independence, curiosity and an understanding of his citizenship locally as well as globally. He is clearing jeopardy categories that have anything to do with geography because of all the maps they create! The research projects foster curiosity and independent learning. I am in awe of his grammer and writing skills! I just can’t say enough good things about this caring, nurturing place. The teachers are as special as they come and he has developed a wonderful peer group there as well!
The teachers are fantastic, the program is great, the facilities and campus are adorable inspiring and sweetly Devine. Highly highly recommend. My daughter goes there now and I wouldn't put her anywhere else after the experience we have had. Enroll with confidence. ****** Note: it has been 2 years since the post above and we are still thrilled with this school. My smaller-than-most daughter is confident and self-respecting in ways that were fostered by this school alone. She is forward-thinking and strategic due to planning her schedules, and is compassionate for others as a result of their open discussions about issues and high level reading concepts. As for the negative reviews related to one teacher's one-time inappropriate comment, that teacher is no longer with the school, as a result of the comment which I feel got overblown on both sides with the unfortunate addition of a news media frenzy which ramped up both sides' reactions. Actually, I was good friends with both the parent and teacher involved and I remain good friends with them today. Unfortunately, in a loooooong history of students and teachers, google's reviews are highly impacted by that event, with numerous 1-star reviews from people who have no connection to the school including a false claim from someone who says they are the student's mother -she isn't- and who says she been blocked- she wasnt... instead that's a cut and paste from the mother's facebook page falsely posted here as a first person review. Why do I write so comprehensively on this here? Because I hold strong that this school is a fabulous option for people who want an intelligent creative and caring school environment. I think it's unfair that kids and families who would love this school might feel erroneously urged to look elsewhere, missing out on a great educational experience for their child. I am grateful for this opportunity for my daughter and family, and I feel confident recommending the same for you and yours.
My daughter has been here for 3 years and we've had a great experience. The teachers and administrators are patient and nice with children and parents. They also schedule community and training programs to help parents with their children.
My child is thriving at this school! As a parent, I couldn't be happier when I pick my daughter up and she is chattering on and on about the great things she accomplished that day. I feel extremely lucky that our family is a part of this educational community which respects and challenges little minds to seize the learning in every aspect of their life.
Our twins have been at the school for 5 years and we love it. The education is excellent and our kids love learning. The teachers and staff are excellent and the instruction is authentic Montessori.
