Executive Chef Ed Ingram started working in the kitchen at the age of twelve cleaning and stocking ice & beer at the local bar. It wasn’t until Ed viewed the PBS TV cooking show Galloping Gourmet, which debuted in 1968 and was hosted by Graham Kerr, that his culinary interest was sparked.
Graham Kerr “would cook, drink wine, drink more wine, then cook” recalled Chef Ed as he reflected on the TV host’s lighthearted approach to cooking (as well as an affinity for good wine). “I wanted to be Graham Kerr. I made it to other kitchens learning as I went along” reminisced Chef Ed.
With an undeniable dream and destined for the kitchen, a young Chef Ed spoke frequently of attending culinary school. That dream became a reality when a woman named Mrs. Corbett took an interest in the young, aspiring chef. “Mrs. Eleanor Corbett handed me an envelope and I asked what it was for. Her reply was, ‘God told me to give it to you.’ I opened the envelope and the money for culinary school was inside. I enrolled in the Academy of Culinary Arts in May’s Landing, New Jersey and I haven't looked back since.”
