Motor City Soul Food

This place was extremely packed. The lady that helped me was vey nice when the other servers seemed to have an attitude and not be friendly. The food looked good, however the flavor wad not all that great. The one spot on 7 mile had better flavors. The cashier was nice as well.

It's not my mom cooking for Thanksgiving back there but it's close enough. They give you a lot of food considering the price. The customer service may be lackluster but who cares...this is a no frills restaurant anyways. The only thing I wish was different would be the lack of option to eat inside. I'm not from the Detroit area so I take my food back an hour and a half to Saginaw...but it's still worth it because the food is usually still warm and can rewarmed.

I've been here before and the food was delicious. This visit I was disappointed, the flavor of the food wasn't nearly as good as it use to be. I had the smothered pork chops, greens, dressing, Mac and cheese corn bread. Portions are huge, service is speedy. Please bring back the quality in the flavor.

First time I went there was last week Wednesday because my mom raved about this spot. Got there and the server said she wouldn't serve me the chicken wings. Her exact words were, "let me see if we have some more in the back"...she returned and said "the fryer was already down for the night" (it was 8 40 pm and they close at 9)... she then said, "I wouldn't serve you something I wouldn't eat myself"...I was like, um, thank you...i think 😐🤔. Needless to say we left empty handed and hungry. The second time I went was the following Saturday (May 18th), we waited 27 minutes for fried pork chops after the server said it would be an 8 to 10 minute wait. The cashier at least offered us free Hawaiian punch (that was after I approached the window to get a pork chop status lol). The wait was not really worth it because the pork chops were dry. The macaroni and cheese and yams were great tho. I dont know, maybe I'll try it again but I doubt it. Fool me once shame on me...you know the rest. Cornbread and pinto beans were both terrible...Hubby said the chicken wings were good tho but the cabbage was not cooked all the way. In addition, the line was all the way to the door and it took about 10 minutes to even get to the window to place our order in the first place (I wasnt thrilled about that). Not the best first impression in all honesty.
