My experience with Mountain West Veterinary on a 1-10 scale, 10 being most excellent is a 10+++ My precious little Pomeranian, Peanut, came up suddenly on Friday evening with symptoms of being lethargic with no interest in eating his dinner followed on Saturday with vomiting and diarrhea with blood in it. By Sunday afternoon, the symptoms continued so I referred by a good friend to bring him here to Mountain West Veterinary. The service we both received here from the veterinary staff and the doctor was most pleasant, professional and they showed genuine concern for the well being & comfort of my Pomeranian. We were checked in, evaluated & treated as needed, checked out and sent home with the medication needed to further treat & provide comfort at home for Peanut all within 45 minutes! Much to my surprise, taking into account this took place on a Sunday afternoon, the cost of this emergency visit was very reasonable! I left going home being reassured in knowing that Peanut will soon be feeling much better and I will get some solid peaceful sleep tonight
Mountain West Veterinary specialty clinic deserves more than five stars. We have three fur babies and through the past five years each one of them have had their turn going there due to an emergency. Mila got stung by a wasp and went into anaphylaxis they saved her life. Luna ate a teabag. She became very sick fast she was vomiting and shaking. I called and let them know what had happened they promptly came out and got her they took her back and kept us posted every step of the way. They monitored Like N.A. for hours to make sure she was ok to come home. We were so grateful for everything they did to save her. Bug Rugby was our 11 year old elderly pug that had been having some health issues we had been taking him to his primary vet for months and giving him different medications when nothing was working and his health continued to declined. He didn’t look well and he passed out so we rushed him to the clinic the care and compassion that was shown to us when we arrived they took Bug back right away and told us it could take up to a couple hours to assess him but within 15 minutes the vet came in and told us he was not doing well we opted to do further tests that led to his diagnosis of cancer. We were devastated to say the least but every staff member we came in contact with was so helpful, kind and truly cared. We never felt rushed to make a decision. We opted to take Bug home for a couple hours of family time so we could love on him and go through the jack in the box for his favorite chicken fingers . We returned to the Clinic a couple hours later and we were greeted by the most compassionate staff. Having to put your precious fur family member down due to a terminal illness is so hard but I have to say the staff helped us through such a painful loss. I appreciate each and every one of them .
Dr. Burton and his staff are the very best! They are very empathetic to our feelings and understanding. They showed compassion and empathy to Katniss and her pain. She had to have surgery on her hip which will alter the way she walks the rest of her life. She to was very impressed and felt comfortable, giving the staff little nibbles of appreciation for helping her. I highly recommend Dr. Burton and Mountain West Veterinary!
They took such incredible and detailed care of my sweet baby, Amoré! She had to be admitted for a few days and the doctors and doctors assistants kept us in the loop the whole time. We talked to them on the phone several times a day with all of the updates on our kitty’s health. She had around the clock care, and they found a couple of different diagnosis, when our typical vet saw her twice in a span of a few days and quickly dismissed her symptoms and our concerns both times. Also, BUFFY NEEDS A RAISE! Buffy was so sweet and real with us. Buffy was always cheerful on the phone with us and when our kitty was released. Buffy even told us about how they loved Amoré and they could tell she wasnt herself when we first brought her in, but when she started feeling better, they told us some details about her personality that gave us comfort that she was being well cared for and well-loved. It was clear to us that Buffy and the staff were treating Amoré as if she was their own and I couldn’t express my gratitude enough for that. THANK YOUUUUU!!!!
This is a bit of a long one, but I’ll try to get as many details as I can without being too long. I want to preface this with I do not trust emergency pet care. A few years ago, I had to take my friends cat to an emergency vet in the Midvale area. She was pregnant and the kittens had died, but she couldn’t birth them so she was septic. They told us that we either needed to pay $4000 or the cat would die and it would be our fault. We left with the cat and drove her to a vet in Idaho where they managed to save her life and it was only $400. Thanks to that emergency vet, I don’t trust the service in general. Fast forward to this last Thursday night. Our 1 year old Frenchton ingested a gram of marijuana. My husband has a med card and it was one of his cartridges. We aren’t certain how she got it, and she didn’t eat the battery which was a good thing. Still, at 4 in the morning on Friday my husband called Mountain West and while on the phone, our little girl threw up a pile the size of her head. They said to bring her in, so we did. After the previous experience and reading some reviews, I was terrified. I was more terrified of losing my baby. The staff was really compassionate and understanding, and when it came down to it the pricing was actually not nearly what I thought it would be. We took the vets recommendation to hospitalize our baby and left at 5:30 in the morning, hoping everything would be okay and we’d made the right decision. We were told no news was good news. Later that morning, we got a call from Buffy to give us an update. Our little Wynne girl was doing fine, and we could see her but they did want to keep her over night for observation. My husband went to see her and then we got a call saying we could actually bring her home that evening as she was doing better than they originally thought. We also got a refund of some of the deposit we paid. All in all, this was a vastly different experience and I’m extremely grateful to the staff at Mountain West. Thanks to them, this traumatizing accident didn’t ruin our holidays and we got the best Christmas gift of all. More time to spend with our sweet, loving little Wynne. Thank you so much to Buffy and the rest of the staff that worked to save or little love bug! And thank you for showing a jaded individual that no two places are alike. If ever we need emergency pet care again, I know where we will be going.
We had an expericne here 5 years ago that was pretty traumatic and I felt was handled poorly, but ultimately came back to try them again because they are local, and the only ER close. It was a really positive experience, Emily Blunt was super friendly and warm. I’m glad we tried it again. I was also in grief of losing a pet so it may have clouded my judgement. Vet techs were all super cute and friendly too. Super affordable in my opinion.
Took excellent care of my dog while hospitalized for two nights. Was as conservative with diagnostics as possible while effectively diagnosing the problem. I felt the prices were fair given it's an emergency animal hospital.
Dr. Johnston, the front desk, and the vet techs took wonderful care of our pup! He got a GI blockage and was very well taken care of! Staff was very polite, professional, knowledgeable, and communicative. I know he was in competent and caring hands. Thank you, Mountain West team!! We are so grateful for your help and expertise. We are so happy to have him home!
So lucky to have access to such an amazing ER! Every staff member, doctor, and tech, are kind and have helped my sweet animals in many different situations. The communication is great, and I trust them completely. We have been unfortunate to have several emergencies over the past 2 years, but so fortunate for Dr Simmons, Dr Kara and their teams, for their knowledge and helping me make the best decisions for my animals. Thank you Mountain West
Wow!! That just about sums up my experience!! I had an emergency with a pup and even though it was a Saturday, the wait time was only about an hour or so and the whole staff and doctor were so overly kind and helpful and made this whole experience so less stressful. I definitely will come here again in the future for all my visits and would recommend them to anyone
