We had a leaders retreat for my company in DC and as the admin for my team I was tasked with finding a hotel for all 12 of us - working with Erich and Kristina was such a delight, they made booking our stay super easy and their meeting room was perfect for us! They were very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed and were so very helpful. The rooms are small yes, but we all loved that, it was quite cozy! and very modern/hipster decor, so cool! We had a group of VP's and Sr. Directors and they all loved staying at the Moxy, the vibe was fun and relaxing at the same time. Great location too! Highly recommend!
My stay at the Moxy was great! My dad and I spent 3 days at the hotel and absolutely loved it. The rooms were very cozy and clean, and the staff were absolutely wonderful. It was our first time visiting D.C. and the staff were really accommodating with recommendations and sites to visit. While all the staff were great, one employee in particular stood out as exceptional- Jonathan. Jonathan went above and beyond to ensure that we had an enjoyable stay. He recommended enjoyable sites to accommodate both myself and my dad and even went out of his way to personally take us to a fantastic restaurant- one of the highlights of our trip. I can’t recommend the hotel enough. We will definitely be returning and recommending to our friends and family! Keep up the great work guys!
This is a new Marriott brand that may not be for everyone, but we enjoyed staying here. We had a corner room with a great view to people watch. This room had a king-sized bed, but I understand many rooms have other accommodations including bunk beds. The rooms are small, with little furniture, but we understood that ahead of time. Complimentary and good coffee was available in the lobby as there are no coffeemakers in the rooms. Pegs on the wall, one chair, one nightstand with a safe, a mini-fridge, one small folding table, and one pop-out luggage rack were about it. Bathrooms do have a hair dryer and steamer, and there were some toiletries including body/hair gel, conditioner, and hand soap provided. My wife and I are in our late 50s and took the train to DC. From Amtrak union station it's about a mile to walk; or you can take the metro next to the station and then walk about 4 blocks from the Metro Center stop; or walk about 1/2 block and catch the DC Circulator GT-US bus for $1 that runs in front of the hotel. The check in desk is also a bar that makes drinks, has a few drafts, and also has a few appetizers and I think breakfast available, which was cool. Every time we walked past the desk to the elevator, someone greeted us usually more than one person greeted us!. We only had a couple of requests while we were there and they were eager to satisfy us, including making some emergency copies we needed for a Pentagon tour. This is a convenient location to transit and is about a mile north of the mall area. We felt safe in this area, but there are unfortunately several homeless in DC who may ask for a handout. We stayed a week and would get carry out breakfast sandwiches or pastries each morning before we headed out to tour, and found several restaurants within walking distance for dinner or drinks.
This hotel has a great vibe. For me, traveling alone, the room was just the right size and because I was there for work, I wasn’t there much. I laughingly told my husband we probably couldn’t go there together because it would feel a bit cramped- and we definitely wouldn’t want to go there with our kids or we would be running into each other all weekend. The noise level may not be good if you are a person who has sensory issues. The lobby is literally a party every night, which is what gives this hotel its vibe, but it isn’t for everyone. Mornings tend to be quieter and there’s free coffee pretty good, too. Every shower has a waterfall shower head, which I’ve since learned is not the best for natural hair textures my co-worker was not pleased, but I quite enjoyed the shower. I only had two problems. First the room was hot and I couldn’t get it to cool off. Second this happened the morning I was going to check out no hot water my last morning there. Not sure what happened maybe it was too close to my check out time. Overall, this hotel has a great atmosphere, but know what you are walking into- it isn’t for everyone.
Very walkable distance to lots of food places. You gotta check out Rumi, the food and drinks are amazing! This hotel had everything we needed. Comfy bed, bar downstairs, nice employees and super clean. Rooms are small but totally fine for the two of us. The whole vibe of this place was spot on. Definitely will stay again!Rooms: 4/5
I had a lovely stay, the staff were great and friendly even when I had to be moved to another room after having the heating in my room go haywire, reaching 82 and not cooling down. It's in a great location, easy walking distance to several landmarks and the free drink token in check-in is a fantastic treat. The mattress is very firm, which was the only downside of a great stay.
I always enjoy my stay at the very unique Moxy hotels. So I definitely had to take a day out of my week trip and DC to check out this location and it's pretty awesome. I truly enjoyed the outdoor lounge area which leads straight into the bar as well as the check-in. There's so much more that could be said however you should just go ahead and book your stay!
Great location for walking to all the attractions. Parking garage across the street. Some restaurants nearby. The rooms are very small. Small double bed with barely any room to walk around. The bed is fairly comfortable and the shower pressure is great. Good value if you don't spend too much time in the room.Rooms: 4/5
This was the coolest Marriott I've ever stayed at so far! The staff was great, my room was cool as well. My only recommendation is to have foldable chairs in the room instead of the lounge one. There is shared ironing on each floor at the end of the hall for anyone curious about it being available in the room.Rooms: 4/5
Definitely got a hipster vibe from this establishment. Great location and helpful staff. Breakfast leaves a little to be desired and the coffee in the grab-n-go area was often empty. Room felt cramped due to a useless clunky chair replace with a folding chair if ownership feels a chair is necessary. Bathroom was clean and space-efficient. I enjoyed the art on display. It definitely gave the place a welcome character.
