I ordered four vegetarian meals and the vegetables are fresh, I liked the tofu. But I ordered rice noodles for a friend who is gluten-free. Instead, the thicker noodles came which were definitely not the normal rice hair noodles I have either bought or eaten before .The person on the phone said these are the normal rice noodles so be sure and ask what they look like if you order this dish, and especially if you have an allergy to gluten.
Probably one of the better Americanized Chinese restaurants I have come across. The food had very good flavor so I am not sure what everyone else is tasting but I intentionally ordered some of my favorites to see how the flavors would be and I was not disappointed.
We ordered delivery for lunch as we are with patients all day and literally cannot leave the office suite. The delivery driver hired by Mr. Chen's- NOT Toast, as we found out wanted us to go down to the street level to pick up the food. We told him we could not, so he said that he would return it to the restaurant. We said ok, and ordered somewhere else. They refused to give us a refund, said it was Toast's fault- we got clarification from Toast that it was an in-house delivery. Never received our food but due to the customer service, will NEVER order from there againl We disputed it with our credit card company successfully.
Disappointing to see no outdoor dining set up when the street is closed off to pedestrians and neighboring restaurants have sidewalk seating. I ordered delivery and the food arrived cold, 2+ hrs. later. One of the entrees was wrong, and when I called to ask for a refund or store credit, they yelled at me to call Grubhub and hung up the phone.
Not at all organic. First thing the person said when I asked about their meat sources was"it's not organic". That's all I needed to know! Change your name. This deception should be illegal.
The food is good but it’s not organic as the title says. Just the veggies. Came here expecting that the majority of the food would be organic including rice, noodles and meats.
The best American Chinese food in D.C.-- I've eaten at numerous restaurants throughout the city, and none of them compare to the freshness and quality of Mr. Chens. Some may think it is overpriced, but I'll tell you the food is beyond worth it.
Mr. Chen’s, in my opinion, is resting on its laurels. The food was not good or authentic and was ridiculously expensive. I was terribly disappointed in the quality. I later tried Peking Gardens on 18th Street NW in DuPont and the food was Excellent, priced appropriately and fresh! They also deliver so you can avoid steep delivery fees and add-one charges by delivery apps. Skip Mr. Chen’s and go with the great tasting Peking Gardens.
The chicken was mealy and dry, the food was bland. Not worth the money at all.
The food is good - no problems here. Their customer service skills could be improved, however. Ordered two entrees online from their official website's menu not the google menu. The menu listed each as $14. I got there and the total was much higher than I expected; I asked why and the woman at the register told me the prices. I said that was much higher than what was listed online. She said that what I ordered from was a "google menu" and that it was google's fault. I showed her the menu I ordered from on the Mr. Chen's official website and she still said it was "google's fault" and that they changed their prices two years ago. This is not google's fault - this is the menu listed on your own website. Please update the prices to reflect current prices. No apology from them, just discounting my legitimate issue. I should've received an apology at the very least, and a restaurant with good customer service would've had me pay the price listed online. This is bad customer service.
