I had a medium Yardbyrd Sandwich with seasoned fries. The fries were delicious. Whatever seasoning they put on them, I want! The Sandwich was super good as well. The only gripe I have about this place is that it is so darn expensive. I believe I paid around $16 including a $2 tip. I would come here again because it seems that there chicken is freshly made. Oh & if you are looking for the bathroom, it is in the back of the restaurant, through the kitchen, & you will see a white fogged glass door. Pretty weird but it is clean & nice. You can see the door from where you dine in!
We got 2 leg quarters and wings 6 pieces. The leg quarter set came with a leg and a thigh, one side, prickle, and a slice of bread. Fried chicken covered with crispy and crunchy spicy thick batter on the outside with soft and tender meat inside. I liked medium more than the hot spicy level. I will order again.
I’m thinking I’m gonna do a spicy chicken sandwich tour. Which calls for traveling far and wide in search of the best spicy chicken sandwich. That said, first up we have Mrs. Chicken. A slightly above moderately priced establishment tucked away in phoenix/Arcadia borderline 32nd st, just south of Indian school. I was out on by a dear friend that shares my same excitement and passion for a bombtastic chicken sandwich. This establishment is small but clean with seating inside and outside with a mister system for the blistering Arizona heat or, which oddly makes perfect sense, the misting system could be meant to cool your body down for the level of extreme heat you’ll experience from taking one bite of a “hot” leveled sandwich. Don’t underestimate the level of spicy each level is. I had the hot yardbird and it was a little more than I could handle. And trust me when I say this, I can handle the heat. Overall, my experience was great. The chicken was crispy and made fresh. The additional sauces you can purchase was great with dipping the sandwich in to reduce the heat. The only thing lacking was the counter service, it was my first time and I was hoping for an friendly and fun run down of how to really experience what Mrs. Chicken has to offer. I’m not saying be overly excited about a guest’s first time arrival but hit me with “yo, you should really get this because it’s so fire” or “ a lot of our guest get this dish and compliment it with our Arnold Palmer”. In reality, it was more like “What would you like to eat?” Please don’t confuse this as bad customer service, the young gentleman that helped me was polite and attentive. He just didn’t take advantage of the opportunity to wow a first time guest.
Not entirely sure how to rate this place. Had a good experience overall but it was quite expensive. Just under $20 for a sandwich fries and a drink. Way too high for the quality of the food. I could get almost the same thing at Chick-fil-A for $8-9 the chicken was pretty good. Mine was a little dry. Not overly dry but noticeable. Flavor was pretty good. I really liked the seasoning on the fries and the side sauces were amazing. I would maybe eat here again but would probably just go somewhere cheaper next time.
I hate giving low ratings because I feel like every place I go to is pretty good. The people are nice but my problem is the food. Paid $16 for Four Medium Tenders and Fries only for both to taste pretty mid, dry, and get a sick stomach. I couldn’t finish it. There was almost no flavor/juice to it, just spice. Maybe I just got a bad batch?? Might try again sometime to see if it’s any different but not anytime soon. : pickles were good though :
I had been eyeing this place for a while, and today, I finally stopped in. I got the half chicken, xx hot 2nd spiciest on the menu behind the "sign a waiver" top level. The meal came with two sides, and I opted for potato salad, as well as red beans and rice. The sides themselves are nothing special, but the sides aren't why I came. I showed up today for hot chicken. The chicken has a unique and thick crunchy breading. It does a great job of staying crispy under all the oil and hot spice blend. The flavor was great, and the chicken was juicy. I dined in, so I was eating the chicken moments after it came out of the fryer. I am a spice chaser, and the spice on this did not disappoint. The xx spice level didn't top out my spice tolerance, but it would definitely be too much for a lot of people. I will try the hottest level next time, and I suspect that it is a large leap in heat from the xx level, or at least that is how similar places are. If you like spicy chicken, this place is for you.
Just Meh. Grabbed the 1/2 chicken meal, but wished that I went to Churches chicken instead. Drove home and my car smelled like chicken and powdered sugar. The potato salad could have used more mayonnaise and some chopped white onions. I mostly could taste the water that the potatoes were cooked in. The chicken itself was slightly juicy, but the chicken thigh was really small. Got excited over the 2 slices of white bread, but it was not the standard Wonder bread, but maybe Walmart brand sandwich bread? The only good item was the rice and beans and the chicken wing. The rice and beans had a very nice smokey smell and had chopped up sausage in it. Not sure if I will try the sandwich next time...they are getting good reviews for something, right?
SO GOOD!!!!! Stopped in for lunch and everything was so tasty! I have literally never had chicken tenders that taste like this. SO fresh and crispy. Cooked to order with your choice of spice level - I chose mild and they were perfect. The sauces are so good - especially the HONKY TONK sauce. Also, the ranch is homemade WITH REAL BUTTERMILK. The cold baked potato salad was great, it's potato, fresh cheddar, green onions...I love that they use just the perfect amount of mayo. I also love the contrast between the cold potato salad and the hot mild chicken. Collard greens were great too. I'm so excited that there is a hot chicken place in the neighborhood - I will definitely be back! Cute spot with a fun atmosphere inside.
3⃣-Point Review Food • Omg I LOVE MRS CHICKEN! I’m not even kidding I think about eating here at least 3 times a week lol. So I’ve gone plenty of times, tried just about everything but the chicken sandwich and some of the sides and really love how they do fried chicken. My favorite is the “Leg Quarter” combo which is a leg & thigh bone-in fried. As with all the chicken items on the menu, they pre-spice the batter to what level of spice you want Mild up to Super Spicy I always get the standard “Hot” level. It’s different than other bone-in fried chicken because of the spiced/flavored batter AND the skin DOESNT stick to the meat like most places. It’s truly amazing wow. Each meal includes a piece of toast & a side of your choice. The fires are thick cut and great too. You also get to pick a sauce, I always do ranch. I don’t want to exaggerate too much but this maybe the best fried chicken in America! I’ve also tried their house dessert “Butter-Carmel Cake” and it’s sooooo good Service • It’s a fast casual restaurant, so you order and sit then you pick it up. I usually call my order in roughly 15-20min AHEAD of time because everything is made as you order and you need to let the food cool down for a few lol. Employees are so nice too, they’ve always been super generous with portions which keeps me coming back. However I do wish they were up a little bit later than 7pm, there are times I would have gone after but couldn’t because they were closed Atmosphere • Nice little eating space inside & out on the patio. I have probably gone 15~ times and it is always SPOTLESS in the dining area. I always call ahead my order but sit down inside because I can’t wait to eat my fried chicken Ahaha. They also have a bathroom in the back that isn’t really advertised, but just ask one of the employees and they’ll show you where it is
Probably one of the best chicken restaurants in the valley. Their medium is quite spicy but I am interested in trying their hot. Had the sandwich and it is tasty. They changed the recepe to be more Nashville style. Great taste. Just wonder why they close at 7pm
