Mumford Restoration

Working with Mumford Restoration was a simple process. I sent photos of my items some furniture some books. Got a prompt reply & quote. I live out of the Raleigh area & they came & picked everything up& returned it. My black walnut dining set is now beautifully restored to its 1932 state hand assembled. Thank you for the restorations & great communication & updates.

I had a great experience with Mumsford Restoration. They refinished a table and also repaired an heirloom Secretary at a very reasonable cost. Would definitely use them again

Very poor quality of the hardware and "leather" strapping on the chest that we had restored. Also, since we made an appointment to pick up the chest, I had expected someone to walk us through what was done as part of the restoration process; however, while I was waiting for the lady to come back from the warehouse with our chest, before I knew it she was outside trying to load it in our car without any help. I can now see why - although the outside finish was nicely done, the top drawer insert to our chest was not well sealed on one side and several of the grommets/pins that were used to attach the "leather" straps to the chest were poorly installed. The locking hardware did not match the 2 clasps well and the hardware overall was very cheap. The lock was not centered and has to be forced shut. The "leather" straps and sleeves are cheap and thin. I will likely be taking the chest to a professional to have higher quality leather straps and hardware installed. For a $2,300+ cost, I certainly expected a much more quality restoration than I got. Although the original chest was not an expensive piece, the sentimental value of it being my wife's grandmother's trunk made it worth the cost to me as a gift to her. However, I was embarassed by what I had to give her when it was all said and done. Furthermore, we had originally been promised a May 2017 completion date, but didn't get the finished chest until October. The reason we were given was that they waiting for the hardware to come in. Considering is was cheap knockoff hardware flown in all the way from China, I guess I can see why it took so long. I would not use Mumford Restoration again for a treasured heirloom.

Mumford Restoration did an outstanding job restoring our desk. The piece looks beautiful. We will enjoy the desk for years. It looks so good that I feel like I shouldn’t put anything on it. Good job Mumford.

Jason Glover was both helpful and professional in the course of providing three services: 1) dropping off a restored art deco lamp; 2) repairing the base of a previously restored art object; and 3) removing a wooden support beam from the bottom of my office desk. With respect to the latter, Jason demonstrated considerable skill, ingenuity and attention to detail.
