First time using Murphy’s and I couldn’t be happier. My technician was Paul. He was friendly, quick, and willing to explain each step he was taking to fix our gas fireplace. Based on this experience, I highly recommend them.
Today Nathan come to clean and inpspect our stove insert. I was very impressed with is work, he took pictures to show me what it looked like up top and he took the time to clean the catalytic converter in our stove which he said was full of ash. I don't know that the person last year took the time to do that. Also the vacuume was left in the doorway to the outside while he vacuumed everything out, I appreciate that because it helps minimize the dust/ash coming into the house. He cleaned the windown of the stove which I don't think they did last year. He was super friendly and professional. I hope that you keep him on the payroll!
Murphy's Fireplace / Santiam gutters did work for my mother. Here is her review: I felt there were many issues with the installation of gutters by this company. In my opinion the quality of their work was very poor. I would not recommend them to anyone.
DO NOT BUY FROM MURPHYS. They are very nice to you until they get your money. Paid over 7000 for a woodstove insert in Nov, it's now April and it still doesnt work properly. It doesnt draft, the room fills with smoke every time you open the door. The fan on the unit rattles so loudly that it cant be used. The door is difficult to open and very, very loud. We've had to have the stove pipe cleaned 3 times in 5 months because it doesnt draft properly. Plus they damaged the stone around our fireplace during install. I keep calling, they keep sending people out and charging me for parts but nothing gets fixed. What a scam.
I can’t begin to say how lucky I was able to have worked with Murphy’s Fireplace in replacing my old wood stove and the masonry work that needed to be done. They were awesome through the whole process and very patient with me when it came to installing my new wood stove, even after I changed my mind a couple of times about the final product. They made me feel like a valuable customer and worked with me to get what I wanted and how I wanted it. From Amy to Paul, Henry and Caleb, thank you so much for being understandable and professional and I look forward to work with you in the future. I highly recommend Murphy’s Fireplace & Stove Inc.
We are in process of having ledger stone installed over our brick fireplace and the workman ship is very poor. It's crooked with adhesive smeared on the stone. We called 2 times and we never received a call. I called and explained the quality issues. We were told they called and left a message but none appeared on our cell phones and the the the best they can do is April 26. If not corrected we will take legal actions and against there bond and company. Please use a different company and save your self these issues.
My wife and I called on Murphy’s to give us a bid to fix our fireplace that stopped working last year. After paying their $95.00 service fee the technician was here all of 15 mins. He wrote down the parts we would need, and said we would be hearing from him with a bid. If we chose to use them to fix the fireplace that $95.00 would be applied to the whole repair bill. Being a business owner, this was very reasonable. We paid their fee and waited a few day, after not hearing we called them. We called Paul to see when we could expect that bid? Paul wasn’t available so the gal said she would follow up. After waiting another 2-3 days we called back and spoke to someone else who said they would look into it and call us back. Long story short, nobody has ever called us back and after reaching out several times we have yet to get a bid. One gal said parts aren’t available anymore. This sounds like someone dropped the ball and too much time has gone by so they “no quoted us”. Basically we paid $95 for absolutely nothing Not worth it, try the several other reputable companies that are hungry for business. Not Murphy’s.
ANGIES LIST USERS READ HERE: Do not use this company. This is by far one of the worst companies I have ever worked with in any business. Extremely unethical. We called them out for a chimney cleaning and inspection as I knew there was repair work that needed to be done on a home we just purchased. We get a quote for $1700, 7 weeks later they show up to work and tell us the price is $3,500. We opted not to have the work done as the excuse we got was the person we paid to clean and inspect couldn’t tell the cost because there was moss on the chimney which is a bold face lie, I’m on the roof weekly this time of year cleaning leaves, + the guy doing the inspection didn’t note any moss and gave us an exact brick count for what needed to be replaced. We have now waited over a month and haven’t received our refund, I’ve called several times and they keep saying they will send it, even talked to the manager. but they have not sent our money back. Terrible terrible company.
My chimney needed to be re-built from the cap to the roof line, about 370 bricks total. After getting several quotes, Murphy's came in the lowest, and there customer service was excellent. Their masons did a great job explaining what they were going to do, and keeping the work site clean. Whenever there was a additional concern or unforeseen issue during construction, they did a good job keeping me informed, and providing multiple solutions. Additionally, they were very accommodating to my multitude of questions I had during construction. Furthermore, the project was finished on schedule, and they did a good job cleaning up the work site afterword. They even replaced a light bulb that they accidentally broke during demolition. When everything was done the owner, Paul, came out personally to inspect the completed chimney, and see if I had any additional questions or concerns. Finally, the project finished within the original quote that Murphy's made. I would definitely recommend Murphy's Fireplace & Stove Inc.
Unethical business practice. I called to schedule a *free estimate* on an issue with my pellet stove. I was scheduled 2 weeks out and called day-of to make sure I still had a technician coming out, again, confirming my *free estimate* Guy shows up half an hour later than expected, but I think hey whatever. I confirm with him BEFORE he starts doing any work, that this is indeed a free estimate. He literally wiggled the pellet stove out of the fireplace, and it starts working. He says, "Well I hope you agree to pay me something." My MIL and I were like, oh hey since it's pulled out, we'll shop vac it real quick, and then dude pushes it back in and offers to test it out by starting a fire. He was here for an hour, maybe, and then writes me an invoice for $175. I never should have paid. I called *multiple times* to the office to try to work with someone on getting a partial refund. They repeatedly told me that they would talk to the owner and call me back. Left lots of messages, nothing. This is some super unethical business practice and I'm considering filing a complaint with the BBB. Do better.
