Harvey's is one of the best, most reliable butchers in the DC area. They've been a staple in Union Market for as long as I can remember. They have everything you could ask for, from A5 Waygu and Dry-Aged ribeye to more esoteric cuts of beef, other animals, and fowl. I've gotten fat trimmings to make tallow, and some of the best bacon I've had ever. They try and source their meat locally, and with some notice can get you whatever you need for your feast. Super nice staff. Highly recommend.
Went in to get some dog food as I have done for some time. The customer service rep was helping me when an older gentleman walked towards him. Suddenly, they are pulling almost every bad of frozen dog food out and sitting them to the side. As I look on the customer service rep looked just as baffled as I was. I stood their for another couple minutes as the gentleman kept pulling out bags of frozen dog food. I walked away and am not sure but it appeared as if he was attempting to find me the oldest one. Not good managerial service and definitely gave the wrong impression.
Excellent butcher / sandwich shop in Union market! Had the pastrami & swiss sando which was spot on but not MY deli style if that's what you are thinking. My wife had the turkey & cheese which was packed with fresh turkey.
My name is Meredith and I visited Harvey's Market once again to buy fresh guanciale pork to make a delicious spaghettis carbonara . I had another superb customer service experience today. Lenny and Joe greeted me with a friendly smile, professionalism, expertise and extremely prompt amazing service! They even cut the guanciale for me the exact same size that I needed per the recipe I was following. Their dedication to excellent customer service reflects great credit upon themselves and the Harvey's Market brand! They are the epitome of excellence and true professionalism. Lenny and Joe deserve the biggest raise and recognition for his amazing friendly service and professionalism! My rating is 5 stars undoubtedly and I will be back consistently. I highly recommend this butcher shop for excellent prices and meats! They truly care people and are community centered! :o
This place has good quality, diversity of cuts, and their stuff is knowledgeable. They also have a mailing list with recipes and the deals of the week. I'm trying a new cut and recipe tomorrow thanks to this place. And it was affordable.
Fabulous food and great service. Cheese steak Sammy with beer cheese last week was incredible and Little City breakfast Sammy with hash browns this morning. La colombe coffee. Great way to start the day!
Food's normally great, but I had terrible service last time I ordered. I ordered a corned beef reuben and was told it would be 6-8 minutes. One minute later the guy at the counter seemed weird and said it was ready - gave me a completely different sandwich that was clearly made before I ordered
This is my favorite place to grab any meat whether chicken, pork, lamb, or steak. The care Harvey puts into its product shows up on your plate. I always buy my steaks from Harvey’s and they already know which one I want based on the fat content to meat ratio. I recently tried the lamb sausage which was so tasty, I’ll always be back for more. Harvey is my local butcher for life.
Went for the first time yesterday and got some picanha and some grass-fed lamb. The service was top notch. I chatted with George who was incredibly friendly and told me a little bit of their history. He has been there for 40 years! I grilled the meats and they were absolutely incredible. I didn't put much seasoning on them, the picanha was steakhouse grade and very juicy. The lamb however, was the best lamb my girlfriend and I have ever had. We are excited to have found our new butcher shop.
Whole Foods was out of beef tenderloin, so I gave Harvey's a shot and placed and order on Mercado. I left instructions for the size of fillets I wanted, hoping they would be read. I'm happy to report that not only were the fillets I received precisely what I had requested, but upon cooking them, the turned out to be some of the best I've ever had in my life. They were the perfect size and shape, cut like butter and tasted absolutely incredible. I will no longer be buying meat at Whole Foods. Although a bit more pricey WF Tenderloin is $30/lbs, Harvey's is $38/lbs, I am willing to pay the premium.
