Opens immediately after Jumu’ah. The bookstore has something for everyone! If you don’t see it, ask and we can order! We carry books for children and adults, for non-Muslims and new Muslims, and those wanting to increase their knowledge and understanding of Qur’an, Hadith, Shariah, History, biographies, family life, Arabic, and various topics on Islam and the Muslim World. We also carry CD’s and DVD’s, Electronic Qur’an Readers, Arabic-English and English-Arabic dictionaries, Prayer rugs for children and adults, qiblah compasses, prayer garments, leather socks, scarves and hijabs, garments for men and women, jewelry, oils, halal soaps, lotions, toothpaste, shea butter, adhan clocks, henna, and miscellaneous items to help you grow in Islam.
How Can I Get a Statement of What I gave?
Upon your request we can e-mail or mail to you a letter thanking you for your total giving for 2014. This includes all donations you made on a Charity Slip that had your name on it, It does not include donations you placed in a charity bucket nor clothing/items you gave. Time to Calculate Your Zakat?
Do you know if you owe zakat or if you are exempt? And if you do owe it, do you know how much Allah requires from you? In order to know this, you must do the calculation. The amount is not a percentage of your earnings, but rather a percentage of what you have saved over the last lunar year, and only if it reaches what is called “nisab”. You owe zakat only if your savings never dipped below nisab over the past lunar year. Nisab is equivalent to either 3 oz of gold or 21 oz of silver. The value of these metals changes daily. If you reach nisab, you owe 2.5% of your calculation. This is only $2.50 for every $100! If you don’t reach it, you don’t owe. Many people don’t really owe it, but give for the love of Allah and to help those needier than they are. They give to receive Allah’s blessings. Look for the Zakat Calculation form on the table in the lobby. Zakat can only be spent on the poor & needy, not masjid bills. We distribute based on Quran 9:60. Checks are made payable to Masjid Al Kauthar.

Need A Letter to attend Jumu’ah or Eid?
We provide letters to schools and employers if it is needed to attend Jumu’ah or Eid. If you or your children need a letter, stop by the charity desk in the lobby. We also provide letters for those who need one to wear a beard or a scarf at their job or school,or be excused from school swim classes.
