My partner and I were craving comfort food on this rainy spring day, so we opted for Namaste Cafe. Neither of us had visited this restaurant before, but we were excited to try it. The decor was charming and the ambiance was welcoming. We were instructed to order via the QR code on the table. We ordered using our smart phones, and the food was brought out to us. It’s definitely an efficient way to place orders, but it lacks the personal touch of a full-service restaurant. We assumed this system was put in place because of Covid. I ordered the Creamy Masala Curry with Tofu and a Masala Chai. The curry was flavorful and delicious. The tofu was perfectly spongy, but it tasted faintly of cornstarch. The basmati rice was well-cooked, but I wish it came with a larger serving. The chai was good, but not noteworthy. Overall, it was a solid meal, but pretty pricey…
Excellent food and amazing chai!! My mom and aunty are super picky about eating out and I decided to check out this eatery and it did not disappoint… we got the ginger cardamom chai which was just perfect and not too sweet. In addition we got some apps specially the potatoes that we award winning and were fab. My mom was super impressed with the jackfruit main dish and it was even bette that pretty much every thing was available as a vegan option. Definitely recommend!
I've really enjoyed Namaste every time I've visited. Over half the menu is meat-free, and most of it is vegan or can be made vegan. It has some great Indian street food options which aren't always available at other places. I had their chai a couple years ago and loved it, I'll have to try again soon! The last time I went I tried their Maharaja cocktail and loved it. It had a great balance of fruity, floral, and spicy flavors. Everything is ordered via phone with a QR code on the table. Servers will bring your food out and they are very helpful and attentive even though they aren't taking your order. Vegetarian options: About half or more of the menu is vegetarian with most of it available vegan as well Dietary restrictions: Many gluten free and vegan options. Clear marking on the menu
Thank you soooooo very much for putting love and passion into your food! I taste the love, this is what you call “soul food”. My heart and soul was filled.. my tummy too.. but such a great experience to lift your spirits. From the music, to the staff.. thank you, thank you, thank you! This is my new spot! Namaste! A happy customer iris
Took myself on a dinner date here after years of wanting to, and it was lovely. The atmosphere is comfy and stimulating, at the same time, with the ability to people and traffic watch. Butterfly Chai = the best drink mix I've ever had. The food was amazing and lasted over a few days for leftovers. I went a little overboard to try things. A very no pressure and safely very little contact experience. Will definitely go back soon.
I liked the place and food here. Just one star less because it is slightly costlier and the taste can be little more better. I have tried prawns appetizer and it was my favorite dish I have tried there.Food: 4/5
I brought my mother and daughter here for dinner last night, after traveling for quite some time. I hadn't been here in years, and my guests were first timers so I was excited for them to experience the cafe. Upon arriving, we were told we could sit outside as I asked about it. We found a cute little spot table 30 and got waters served to us right away, then the gentleman briefly told us how to order food. After 25 mins of ordering our food and drinks, a gal came and dropped off our tea and cappuccino, another 20 mins went by and the same gal came by and said our food would be done in 10 mins. By then, it had been 45 mins of waiting for our food and it started to rain, while we stayed mostly dry, my daughter who is three was starting to get uncomfortable. Another 10 mins went by, before my mother went inside to inquire about our food. They lady who served us our drinks said it was taking long because of the fresh ingredients and everything being made from scratch. We finally got our food after about an hour of waiting, the place was not busy, we saw others come and go and quite frankly, it seemed like the locals were catered to, more than us. A totally different girl dropped off our food and the one and only thing she said after placing our veggie dish was, "those are vegetables". She immediately walked away, didn't ask if we need anything, no refills, no napkins, no apology for the hour wait...just nothing. At that point, I was just happy to feed my child and mother. But to my dismay, the food was bland and not good. It did not taste authentic. So, at the point we just ate what we had, sat there the entire time without one staff member checking in, after received our food. And by that time, it was pouring and we just wanted to leave. I went inside and spoke to the lady who served us our drinks, and asked for napkins, I mentioned the lack of service and she apologized and said the gal who dropped our food off was new. Despite that, I went back to our table for another 10 mins, and by that time everyone was slightly soaked from the rain so I went inside again to ask for a container for our veggies and we left. We didn't receive any thank you, an apology, they literally didn't say anything. I'm appalled and disappointed, I've never experienced service like this, let alone at this restaurant. We spent almost $70, to be completely let down, the only thing that was nice and that allowed me to give two stars was the pretty atmosphere and ambience the place still had.
Our first time eating at this restaurant and man, was it disappointing. We waited an hour for our food. The server told us they had a big pickup order to fill. Well, that may be so, but a couple of issues with that. First, our drinks got filled once. No one checked on us at all. When the food finally came, it was cold the appetizer, brought at the same time as the main dishes. The food was well below par. A fly buzzed our table throughout our dining experience, too. The best part though? The bill for 2 adults, 2 kids - $100. Folks, go to India Palace down the street and get the banquet. Double the food, way better quality, just a little over half the price. Keep your money and go to the grocery store and make it yourself. I promise you, either way, you will have a better experience than we did.
The food is excellent, the portions are fair, and the spice level is perfect. Service is poor. I have yet to have a good experience anywhere when ordering from a QR code at my table. We were brought an appetizer without plates and no one even came on the patio to check on us for at least 10 minutes. When I flagged down someone, she brought plates with no apology and then asked if we were still waiting on more food which we were. Bring back real servers or build a process where diners are still checked on and workers understand what food is coming out and where it goes. Don't run a dining establishment like a food truck. Certainly don't nudge us to tip prior to receiving any service if this is the standard.
My favorite place for authentic Indian food in twin cities. I have happily stopped going to other Indian restaurants after tasting Namaste Cafe's food. I am totally on board with their organic ingredients and environment conscious efforts. I wish they didn't promote meat eating though.
