New Jersey Higher Education Student Assistance Authority, HESAA

Their customer service reps (or lack there of) are rude and come with an attitude on every call I've had. The site in itself is incredibly outdated and unintuitive, which is ironic being the amount of money they make from their high interest rates. They sit on mailed in checks, wait until payment's are past due and won't hesitate to report you to the credit bureaus at a moments notice. Conveniently they'll take months at a time to report payments made on time though. If you don't stay on top of this and call them out on their negligence it has the potential to destroy your credit. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from these sharks! Out of the three services I've used HESAA is by far the worst!

Rude, no help at all. They are unforgiving, they don't want to help and are sue happy. DO NOT GET A HESAA LOAN THEY ARE WITH THE STOCK MARKET. WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE TO WANT TO FURTHER MY EDUCATION. THEY CALL ALL DAY EVERYDAY THEY DON'T CARE IF YOU MAKE LITTLE MONEY IN A PUBLIC SERVICE JOB. GET A GOVERNMENT LOAN HELL, EVEN A PRIVATE BANK LIKE CHASE IS A CAKE WALK COMPARED TO THESE LOAN SHARKS. IT IS NJ SHOULD HAVE KNOWN. 0 stars.

The interest is so ridiculously high that I have had to STOP attending my college after one year and one semester. It's also been extremely difficult to get in-school deferment from them now since I'm trying to attend community college in the meantime. Save yourself and don't deal HESAA's nightmare.

I wish that no stars was an option. Rudest customer service (representative #328). Go get scammed by a different student loan servicer. They don't deserve your interest paid. No compassion towards hard working individuals making consistent payments every month for years. One slip and they report you to credit bureau. Avoid this company at all costs.
