We reached PDX and when most of the other taxi drivers refused to take us because we had three big bags, a cab from this company gladly accepted us and that too in a oddly designed Scion. The cab driver was courteous but took us to a wrong address initially because his GPS screwed up. However, I was looking at the directions in my mobile too and thus we were able to reach our hotel safely. At the hotel, the cab driver was very patient when we went inside to complete the reservation formalities. He even helped us to take our luggage to our room. Much recommended and will definitely do business with them again.
On August 23rd, I called Rose City Cab Company for a ride to PDX from an off-site rental car location. The driver arrived at the appointed time and got me to the airport quickly and expeditiously. He helped with my luggage and tipped me generously. I got in-line for curbside check-in for Southwest Airlines and went to pull up my boarding pass on my Samsung S4 when I realized it was missing. After a quick search of my pockets, I realized I must have left my phone in the cab. One of the people waiting in line next to me was kind enough to lend me their phone, which I used to call my phone, hoping the cabbie hadn’t gone too far and would return my phone to the airport with my phone for $20. There was no answer. I had the ‘Where’s My Droid’ app on my phone, so I called my wife in Virginia at this point and asked her to activate it. The app gives GPS location for the phone, can send of an alarm, and remotely take pictures out of both cameras among other things. The phone was unresponsive. She called the cab company and they said they would look into it. My wife and I attempted to contact the manager at Rose City Cab Company several times over the next few weeks and were successful a few times. Early on he told my wife he would get in touch with the cab driver but he never called back on this occasion or any other. I probably should have given up hope sooner, but it wasn’t until my son lost his phone out in the middle of nowhere and was able to locate it using the same app that I realized how good the app was and how someone had to have disabled it within a few minutes of me exiting the cab. Perhaps my driver was honest and picked up someone right away who found my phone and decided to steal it and knew exactly what they were doing. That doesn’t excuse the lack of any decent type of response by the company itself. This is an untrustworthy company I would avoid at all costs – my ride ended up costing me over $400.
Waited on hold for only about five minutes and was told it would be fifteen to twenty minutes for my cab. After fifteen, I called the dispatch again and a man named Michael told me that my ride was cancelled because they only had one driver on the road and his car mysteriously broke down. Michael said he left a voicemail, but my phone never rang and I don't use my voicemail service through Verizon. You would be better off with one of Portland's many other cab companies or with Uber and Lyft.
I've only had a chance to use this cab service once, but that one time made all the difference - I had an emergency at the airport, the cabbie let me board immediately in the wrong loading area after I explained my situation, drove me efficiently there and back and all in time for my flight. In addition, I had lost the receipt, and upon calling the service one week later, they recovered it for me and emailed it back within the same day of request. Not only were they quick and efficient, but friendly and totally accommodating. Best cab service I've ever had. Thank you, New Rose City Cab co!!
This cab company has given me thee absolute WORST experience I have EVER had!!! First, when we got dropped off, we asked if he Nagy would be able to pick us up 2 1/2 hours later. He said that wouldn't be a problem & confirmed he'd be there even early & wait for us. We came out 5 minutes early & waited for about 15 minutes, expecting him to be there, but...he flaked out to give someone else a ride. THEN, we called to complain & request someone pick us up 5 hours later. They said they had us down forb our scheduled time & they'd also do their best to accommodate the inconveniences we've experience. Once again, no show is how they do business. They need to do something else besides taxi.. Worst cab company ever!!!
My husband needed a cab to go to a dialysis appointment, he goes to dialysis on a regular basis and knows how to get there. He asked to be picked up at 11:30 and the cab driver arrived at 10:30. Dialysis is 13 min. from our house, a straight shot street wise. He tried to tell the cab driver how to get there but the cab driver refused and used his GPS. The GPS took him in the wrong direction and took almost 45 min. The bill was $29 instead of $14 charged by previous cab companies. This cab company has not responded to my complaints. I feel this is "highway robbery".
Called the night before to schedule a ride for my family of 4 for a 5am pick up the following morning to get us to the airport. It’s 5:13am and they have not showed. I called and they claim to have no record of my booking. We are now waiting for an Uber. I’m never calling this company again.
Giving the same review as did on Yelp. The way these guys operate as a "business" - I wouldn't trust them or anyone I cared for to ride with them. ===== Not a cab fare customer - just a victim to falsehood. Never have used their service and never will after reading reviews. My experience is more so indirectly - direct. One of their idiot cabbies rear-ended me downtown, and I have no idea how a competent driver could have with ALL traffic in my lane, including myself were STOPPED. Im sure he was texting! The second offense came again, by the barely English speaking driver who attempted to "handle" - pushing back when I asked for his info, while exclaiming there wasn't much damage, nothing was there. I had to threaten him - that if he didn't get out his information - I was going to call the police for hit and run. Happened on a Friday eve, so I took the matter up with them the beginning of the next week.k and spoke with the manager, Teal Abel who said they would take care of the matter right away directly with them. I agreed, faxed over two estimates, offered a third, but never heard back. Called their office again, spoke with "Joe" on the following Friday who started giving me excuses of what I might have misunderstood. I stopped him and told him he wasn't part of my conversation with Mr. Abel, so he didn't know what was discussed, and I didn't misunderstand. He also gave the excuse that Friday's were "sort of " Mr. Abel's days off. A weekday. Friday. Whatever. Joe then got more forceful and almost rude and started trying to "handle" me, and tried telling me there was a process and it would take a while and they would take care of me. NOTHING of this nature takes a while, when a cab company is trying to pay you out! BTW - it turns out I didn't notice at the time the driver's insurance had expired nearly TWO months prior, too! I got an excuse for that one, too, that the driver was caring the wrong documentation. Hmm?!!? Wouldn't that STILL be a violation - as you're required to carry proof of VALID insurance at all times in your vehicle?!? I was agreeable to cooperate for all, but don't even start jerking me around. I'm done! Come Monday - they'll be getting an insurance claim against them, and who knows about the cabbie's driving status when the police see his expired insurance! Don't screw around with these yahoos, neither with cab fare or ANYTHING in general!
The driver tried to take a longer route and had an attitude when I told him to not take the freeway, its 1 mile longer and an additional 5 minute drive so it's obvious they are intentionally screwing you over. This is why people switch to uber and the cab and cab companies are dying.
Charged me $70 for what should have been a $33 trip from Lyft or a max $40 trip from Uber. Not even a luxury vehicle from Uber cost $70 but they ran up the meter to $25 before we had even left the airport. This company is an absolute total scam and they deserve to go out of business. 0 stars out of 10.
