My son now in 4th has attended four different schools--one public, two charter, and New Way. We are partway through his first year and I can say with confidence this has been his best school experience yet. He used to hate school; now he loves it. He's made more progress so far this year in reading than in the last two years combined. Most importantly, we've seen his confidence blossom as his amazing teachers have helped him learn social skills and executive functioning to help him navigate daily life! I seriously don't have enough good I can say about the school, the teachers, or my experience here with my son. Family members from out of state who hadn't seen him for a few months were shocked by his progress over the holidays.
Our son is in his fifth year at New Way, and his academic turn around is nothing short of remarkable. He has regained his self esteem, looks forward to going to school every day and is learning at his pace. The staff and support systems in place at New Way are there to make sure each child succeeds. As parents, we could not be more pleased with the education process and results we have seen thus far. We highly recommend New Way, they are the real difference......
We highly recommend the school. Our son’s confidence in himself and his ability to learn grew exponentially. The teachers and staff are involved and responsive. In particular, Abbey Ross and Michael Walker always had time to answer our questions. They also made time to get to know the students individually, which our son really appreciated. The school hosts informational programs to make sure parents understand what students are studying as well as social activities so parents can get to know each other. The school’s online communication system was another huge plus for our family. We knew exactly how our student was doing and where we could help him on any given day. New Way will always be a part of our family. You put our son on the path to success. Thank you, New Way!
New Way Academy has changed my daughter's life - and ours! Our now 7th grader is happy, confident and thriving. It is very comforting to know that ALL her needs are being met and it is such a pleasure to be greeted by smiling faces each morning. I only regret it took 6 years to find this wonderful school.
This is our daughter's first year at New Way 4th grade and in just a few months we have seen her thrive. She is happy to go to school, is learning in a way she understands and has the support of all the amazing, certified, dedicated, patient teachers and staff. She went from being a quiet outsider to a confident child who enjoys going to school. Best decision we ever made!
So happy our grandson can do high school here. We've seen a big difference in the progress he's made during his freshman year.
Although I'm sure this is a wonderful school according to the reviews, the way to get in is extremely difficult for parents like myself. When I first wanted to get my son in there, I was under the impression that I could sign up for a scholarship. What they don't tell you is that you are responsible for calling all those places yourself and have hope that they will give a donation. And most of them will not help unless your kid is already enrolled. Now how does that make sense? How can my kid get enrolled if no one will help with the scholarships? For one year it is $25,000! But this was a few years ago, I dont know if the policies have changed or not. I was very hopeful but when I started to call all those places for their support, they shot me down. Also, when you look up the school on google, it comes up as a PUBLIC school. Public schools are free to attend. This school is far from free. Again, I dont know if anything has changed about it, but now my son will have an awful education and not get the full support he needs for his disability.
After 5 years in public school special educationI my son still couldn't read, I was told not everyone learns to read. My son is now in his 3rd year at New Way and is reading. He loves New Way feels more confident and likes going to school again. Don't let the price scare you, there are scholarships and opportunities for assistance. Without them my son would never be able to attend. My only regret is not looking into financial assistance the first time I visited New Way site when my son was in second grade.
Our son started at New Way Academy after finishing his 8th grade year in public school with 3rd grade reading level. This not only impacted his education, but it impacted him socially too, being bullied by his "peers". An IEP is an Individualized Education Program and New Way provides just that... INDIVIDUALIZED! Our son receives 1:1 speech therapy, 1:1 reading therapy with a reading program that is researched based for students with dyslexia, the smaller class sizes help reduce the classroom distractions and the bonus is being surrounded by "peers" that understand him, enabling him to participate in classroom discussions in a setting where he is not humiliated. Just like our kids learn differently in the classroom, our kids learn differently with sports too. The sports program at New Way helped our son boost his self esteem, engage in social interaction and develop leadership skills. They have a no cut policy and having a low student ratio gives all students the opportunity to participate and compete in sports regardless of the level of their skills and abilities. Our son's development in the area of self esteem from playing sports bridges to his academics and self advocacy. Thanks New Way Academy for making a difference in education!!
New Way has been a gift for our son. At his previous school he underwent several challenges including bullying and marginalization. Thanks to the incredible team at New Way, he is thriving. Our son is getting straight A's, playing team sports, has a great group of friends and his confidence is soaring.
