You should bring your wallet and phone during your workout. Someone broke the locker door itselfnot my lock a couple of weeks ago, and stole my wallet and a watch. I only could have one month membership fee waived. I don't use this branch anymore, but please bring your valuable personal belongings with you always!
walked in at 3:45 pm, after 40 mins I decided to ask the manager Moses who was eating at the front desk why the club looks like this see pics - he redirected me to the female associate scanning members in and told me to file a complaint online.
In terms of layout, it's small, two levels, but plenty of equipment to appease any customer. Trainers were considerate, helpful, and never hassled you. If you join this gym, make sure you understand that if you decide to cancel, you must come in. I called two times, was never told that I needed to come in for cancellation and got charged twice. Only two people there were helpful in this situation Moses was one of them and I appreciate them. The managers seemed to busy to give me a call even to help or explain well anything. Poor miscommunication. In all, the gym is a fine place to get in your workout but do not expect good customer service from management. If you join, make sure you understand everything, many many questions never too little. Remember, go in if you want to cancel because they seem to have hidden that from me.
I had the pleasure of being a member here for almost a year before moving due to extenuating circumstances. The pool is fantastic and the gym is clean and spacious... Hardly ever crowded. The staff is wonderful. They are so accommodating and patient. Brenda and Sean, in management, are wonderful too. An all around pleasant experience during my time with NYSC. Looking forward to rejoining when I return!
Good location. The gym is located in the basement of the building and it occupies two levels down. The machines are clean for the most part. Staff is professional. The sauna is finally working and keeps a consistent temperature. Wish it had a steam room.
I've gone to this gym for about a month. Overall, it's pretty mediocre. The thing that's disappointing is that if the management were a bit more proactive about a couple things, it could actually be a really good deal. Also, my workout is purely weight training, so this review won't touch on their cardio equipment, pilates classes, or whatever. Pros: - Competitive price, at least for the area. - Large space, again by NYC gym standards. Cons: - Weights are constantly scattered all over. They clearly don't have staff going around and re-racking / organizing the floor with any regularity. The floor is also pretty badly organized, so people often don't seem to know where to rerack their weights. - Not enough 2.5 and 5 pound plates. There are maybe four 5 pound plates on the whole floor. People are constantly walking around looking for these because they don't want to increase their lift by an increment greater than 10 pounds. - Equipment is rusty / creaky. This doesn't matter too much, but oiling a handful of the machines or tightening a couple bolts here and there would help. - Too many gimmicky machines, not enough space for weight racks. They could really really use another power rack on the floor, and they'd fit it easily if they got rid of one of the lesser used machines.
Rachael, who worked on August 19, displayed the most hospital and welcoming greetings I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. I called several different gyms in the area but went to this one because of her. She exemplifies customer service and is undoubtedly one of the many reasons people go to that gym, as opposed to others. They feel welcome and at home there, a real treat compared to other gyms that usually want only a certain "type".
Terrible location. The west 80th st is much better. Though the spin class on Wednesday at noon was very good because of the instructor, the facility is dark and dirty. The ladies locker room was filthy, the showers not clean and pile of dirty towels and garbage every wherever. It was quiet shocking.
My laptop and wallet were stolen here. Someone actually managed to break the lock, take out everything and run away. I have heard this is a COMMON occurrence at this location. I called the police and filed a police report and to make things worse, the location has no cameras even in the main lobby area!!! Avoid this location at all costs. Don't trust the lockers here. Don't carry any valuables to this location. If you do, keep them with you at all times. I seriously recommend to avoid this location.
The bathrooms are stinky and absolutely dirty. There is never enough equipment for classes being held downstairs and those classes are overbooked. Considering moving gyms.
