Good gym, compared to other NYSC locations. Every time I am here it is never empty. Maybe due to its location, but there is always a good amount of people working out at all times. There are personal trainers of you need help. The locker room has plenty of lockers. Big shower room, with sauna, towels provided.
I received a one year membership as a gift and it turned out to be the best thing anyone has ever given me. The gym is not perfect sometimes a little too warm but the attitude of the staff makes up for it: they are all upbeat, friendly, helpful and supportive, and there are always plenty of available machines. The best part has been the personal training - I was hesitant at first because everyone seemed so young but my trainer Keron is amazing - he is patient, very knowledgeable, creative, considerate of my many issues and just a lot of fun to work with. I am very happy with this gym.
I simply love this gym. I don't know what I would do without it. It is close to work, close to Central Park and has all machinery and classes you need. Listen, the place isn't perfect plumbing issues, could be cleaner but let's not be picky and overly analytical...it's a gym! You get the workout you need from it, shower and go.
I stayed in this area for a short period of time and didn't want to purchase a monthly pass. The staffs here were extremely friendly and they figured out a super good deal for me many thanks!. The equipments here are descent and it was not very crowded around 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm. The only thing is that I didn't really find a platform and there was only one squat rack but it was sufficient for people. Anyways this gym deserved a five star and I would definitely recommend it.
I love this gym man. It’s right across the street from my office, so I am generally In the gym everyday of the week. It’s a pretty big gym, with four levels.. it barely gets crowded.. the machines and equipment are in great shape but the staff is what keeps the gym thriving.. even on days when I’m not motivated..i’ll walk In and see the staff smiling and ready to greet me. The gym itself just got new treadmills, a new paint job, and even a new manager who’s making some great changes. I admit the gym was looking iffy a couple of months ago but I’m glad with the directions it’s moving in now!
I have signed up for this gym in the past and it was fine but i signed up again for their cheapest membership, recently, and was surprised to see that they have been charging more than the agreed cost i signed up for. I called and no one has helped me yet. I've been told in the past that NYSC has a reputation of overcharging their customers without notification of a price change, but believed it was just an unfortunate incident. I guess they were right.
The gym is convenient if you work around this area. It's not bad but it's not very great either. It has some basic towel service but that's pretty much all amenities there is. The place is never very packed which is a nice thing. Showers and lockers are reasonably clean.
This place is trying really hard to be the worst NYSC. Machines are mostly broken or make loud noises. The men's locker room is nasty and none of the showers have body soap. The showers have caked on residue as though no one has bothered to scrub them clean for years and the sauna has no lighting. Ventilation is an issue and management has setup big industrial fans in the locker room but maybe they should spend the money to actually fix the ventilation system. Shameful how much NYSC keeps increasing their prices each year with little to show at their locations. Maybe train your employees to take some pride in keeping their locations clean.
The locker room is clean and showers are not too bad. Only complaint is around lunch time sometimes there is a line for the shower. The real reason this location gets 5 stars - is because of its location. Super easy to pop in at lunch time - get changed - and go for a jog in Central Park. My go to for running outside is this location.
UPDATE: April ‘19 Not only is nothing different at this location , but no one even responds to the detailed feedback I emailed “Gabe” @ TSI ... nor response of any kind to their “feedback”on their website.... apparently black hole stands in for “customer service”... I guess that saves them even more money. Dropped off another star for zero response or action on my review/feedback. Unreal. review is about the facility, not the staff. I’ve been using this location on and off for like 10 years. The carpet ! square’s in mens locker room are the same ones from when I started. The men’s locker room is disgusting and smells horrible, especially in hot humid months. The carpet is so gross and smelly. Basically a Petri dish of bacteria. Their solution is to put fans filled with lint on floor to blow the stink around. Towels are always piled high, and all over floors/benches. On Saturdays I don’t think they even have anyone to clean the locker room. There are always signs about towel shortages... they treat them like gold. This gym needs serious TLC/painting/deep cleaning/updating. Most importantly they should incinerate the carpet and put down textured tile flooring in locker room like other locations. I’m guessing Town Sports is too cheap to pay attention to this location?
