Have been a member about two years and I only tolerate this gym facility due to large space and volume of equipment. What good is it if most are broken or under indefinite repair with signs posted everywhere of things being "Out of Order". I'm not picky as I mostly use free weights but most cable type machines need to be retired and are borderline unsafe with wires and pins damaged or missing. Of course the pool is closed without further notice during peak Summer when we have a heat wave going on. The sanitary conditions are beyond abysmal and embarrassing - do not know how health inspectors do not suspend or penalize for the conditions. Can easily contract common supdermal skin rashes and infections if surfaces and floors aren't cleaned. Men's locker room is always a zoo with broken lockers, a urinal always out of service and trash and used towels everywhere. Everything everyone else states about contract fee hikes and having the utmost difficulty cancelling their membership is accurate - Mine steadily increased with no explanation and an overly convoluted pricing structure. I'll be looking to cancel once I'm done with mine.
The worst gym ever. First off, I cancelled the membership this June, because the quality of the gym is horrendous. Almost 30% of the equipment is broken for several months. The bathrooms are never cleaned, do not have tissues/ towels, and are growing mold. Secondly, my membership started at $20/ month and every few months they increased my rate by $5/ month. Within few years I was paying $40/month. After all this, when I cancelled my membership, the same day I was enrolled into a new plan without my consent. And, I went in 2 times to speak with the manager Mathew for cancellation, they assured me that it was cancelled. And, six months later I’m stilll paying a monthly fee. I have reached out to the corporate office, the twitter handle and called several times, but no luck. I would say this is the WORST quality of service and business model I have ever encountered.
I have had billing issues regarding the personal training. I asked that it be cancelled, but my request was not honored and the membership was frozen so that they could charge me for more sessions. I had other billing issues with the personal training as well. I was charged a different amount then was discussed when I signed up. Also I have gotten sick after working out at the gym too many times. The equipment and the rest of the gym need to be sanitized.
I joined for the indoor pool. I have been loving it so far, but I am tempted to explore the classes and equipment. The gym is turning around for the better. The locker room is always nice and clean. The ladies sauna is probably due for a little maintainance. The women’s locker and bathroom are always clean. The towels are very small, but plentiful. I tend to bring my own anyways.
From the moment I joined last year I felt hustled. Matthew sure talked a good game about the sanitation of the club and the $19.99 for life membership. Soon after joining I asked for a membership tag but was told they were on back order and then I was told to use their app because they were going "green". I refused to add another app to my phone and voiced my opinion about not everyone has a smartphone, I still know people using flip phones, and some folks don't have room for another app. Hmm, a few days later they had the tags! Why I stayed after this lie is beyond me. I mostly joined because of the pool, didn't learn how to swim, but caught a yeast infection from the pool so I moved onto a cardio routine. Treadmills were ok, but sanitation wipes were always out by the machine I liked to work on in the evening. This month there was a fee increase with no notification. Not that I want to use the pool but it's been closed for at least five days. I've seen the same sanitation wipes on the floor at two weight machines for a week now. Are they cleaning/spot checking this place because while I do see someone in the locker room doing something, what about the gym floor? I cancelled my membership this week which isn't over until 45 days so I'll be charged one more monthly fee and they imposed a $10 cancellation fee. What an insult, but at least I'll be done with bad and unclean business practices. If I continue to get charged, I'll just deal with the credit card company.
Gym is ok. I signed up because it is local and has the pool. However, I barely use it, so there is no point in staying. Horrible management. I was supposed to pay $19.99/mo. After a few months they charged $32 and change out of nowhere. No notifications. I complained to the manager and wanted to cancel. She negotiated and said they will credit me what they owe by giving me a few months free and then give me back my $19.99 deal after. Did that happen? No. After, the few free months, I got charged the $32 something. Money is not the issue. It’s a matter of respect and taking care of your customers. Customer service sucks and so does management. I do love the Spanish lady who does the cleaning. She is very nice. So that is why this place gets one star. Anyway, I went to management, they said I have to see the lady who offered me that deal who works in the morning. Mind you, I work out at night cuz I also work during the day. Nobody knew when this lady was coming back from vacation. Really? How does no one know when the manager comes back? So whatever, I go back there again one morning, wasn’t there again! What a conspiracy, so if she’s quits or gets fired, how will they resolve this? Tried calling today and last week so I can see when she comes in, no answer. But I realized the longer I stay, the longer I lose out. They will try to give me the same deal: Credit me a few months and make the same mistake. Can’t trust that they will do the right thing. So, I just have to cancel before I get charge another annual fee and membership fee.
The worst gym ever. I wanted to end my membership as I was moving out of town. And I didn’t complete my membership year and they wanted -they already did - to charge me a new annual fees and they already raised my bill few months before without notification. Customer service is so poor. I don’t recommend this gym. You can enjoy any other gym with the same equipment and for $10 a month.
Wonderful staff, knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, personable and professional. The entire gym is spotlessly clean and when something is out of order it is repaired as quickly as possible. Besides all the usual gym machines, personal trainers, and group exercise workshops, the facility includes a great pool and the best showers anywhere! Even my fellow members are friendly and helpful. So glad I found NYSC!
I've been a member for almost a year , love the Zumba classes and the inststructors Donny , Hatsumi and Lewis however my favorite is Lisandro. Also the Aqua Aerobics is very good . I find the facility pretty clean at least to my satisfaction. Staff very friendly always greet you upon entry and exit. 7/4/2018...... Gym is loosing it's credibility with me..needs a good cleaning . Machines have a lot of dust on them , the Studio floors are in desperate need of some TLC.the air has been broken for 3 to 4 weeks in the area where classes are performed it's 100 degrees in a room with no air and they act like it's no big deal. It's unhealthy for the workers to perform under those conditions and unhealthy for the paying customers especially the elderly ones. Pool has dirty build up along the edges that needs attention. 8/7/2018 Air still broken and it's been over 2 months , guess they are waiting for someoneto pass out before they fix it . I feel sorry for the instructors who have to teach because this is how they make a living . Bathroom still disgusting, pool stil dirty . Dust build up still on the equipment, studio floor in desperate need of cleaning. The best part of the gym is the staff because in spite of all the complaints its nothing they can do about it.
