Nichols Sport Bikes is owned and operated by motorcycle enthusiasts, for motorcycle enthusiasts, and been around since 1993. If you own a Ducati, please check out our products and services.
Jon and Lettie Nichols
Jon began riding motorcycle in 1966 and has been wrenching on motorcycles, cars and antique airplanes since he was a teen. In 1991, after purchasing his first Ducati (an 851 Superbike) not being satisfied with its stock performance, Jon began a regime of steady performance enhancements that continues to this day.
An Accomplished machinist and mechanical designer (Nichols Manufacturing, started in 1979 by Jon and his wife Lettie, is an aerospace machine shop), Jon has machined engine parts substantially lighter than the stock Ducati parts; first a greatly lightened flywheel, then an aluminum flywheel, then a clutch basket, and other performance parts located in the Products section of this site.
Jon has been an instructor at Jason Pridmore's Star Motorcycle School since 1999, and according to Jason: "You didn’t know that Nichols picks up revs a lot faster than most. He goes to 11"!
In 1993, after sensing a need for personalized Ducati service in the Bay Area, Jon and Lettie opened Nichols Sport Bikes, occupying 2,500 square feet, with four service bays, staffed by the following service technicians:
Mike Lawrence
Mike began working at Nichols Sport Bikes in 2005, and has been a technician in the motorcycle industry since 2002. Mike spent 8 years racing motorcycles. Mike loves anything mechanical. Mike is an active member in the horseless carriage club with a 1911 Mitchell he has restored, and is currently building a 1924 Ford Race car, converting the simple flathead engine to a fire-breathing overhead valve, bored and stroked 100 MPH+ car. Motorcycle restoration - Mike’s first bike, a 1978 Honda XR75, and a 1970 CL 70 Scrambler. Mike enjoys building engines, tuning, and learning more about performance modifications to make more power and smoother power bands. Mike spends his spare time on the dyno with his own bikes, learning more about cam timing and building fuel maps with the latest and newest performance software.
Josh Sievert
Josh has been working at Nichols Sport Bikes and riding motorcycles since 2001. Josh has received certification for performance tuning on Dynojet dynamometers. Josh has always enjoyed building model cars and Legos. The thing Josh likes best about working at Nichols Sport Bikes is seeing a motor project finished and hearing the bike fire up.
Sean Henry
The newest addition to the Nichols team is Sean. Sean has been a motorcycle technician since 2004 and has been riding since 1992. Although Sean is somewhat young, he's a seasoned technician with experience and certifications on most brands. Sean has a passion for motorcycles that goes back many generations and enjoys challenging himself, learning new things and meeting new people. Outside of work Sean races AMA D36 cross country in the B class. "I'm glad to be a part of the Nichols family and to be part of a shop that has such high standards of excellence without sacrificing the family atmosphere."
William Boyd
William has been riding motorcycles for 35 years. He has a strong perversion for Ducatis. He's a Wyotech graduate and a certified Level 2 Ducati Tech. Being a quick study, William never turns down an opportunity to learn something new. Before he joined our team in August 2014, he worked for 2 years at a local dealership. Prior to that, Will had 11 years experience at NUMMI working on the Tacoma assembly line. With 6 motorcycles at home and 4 being Ducatis, William always has a project he's working on. With a diverse range of experience, William is a welcome addition to our team at Nichols.
Mike Clark
Mike has been riding motorcycles for over 40 years, first on the street, and the past 6 years on both street and dirt. Mike is a certified arborist, and enojys camping when not wrenching on motorcycles or trimming trees.
