Nielsen’s has great food and treats. Obviously love their custard and love getting the raspberry coconut. I have gotten a burger and fries here as well and they are really good too! Service is usually a bunch of high schoolers that maybe do too much hanging out, but I’m just grateful they have workers cause who wants to work fast food. Atmosphere is fine but it’s an ice cream place that is sticky and not super clean but what can you expect. Foods what matters most and they get to at right! Also grabbed some gift certificates for a Mother’s Day gift. Great gift idea for a custard loving mother. Parking: When it’s super busy like a weekend night, parking can be more limited but I’ve never had to park outside their lot.
We come here all the time, but recently has been very inconsistent. Sometimes they forget the malt we paid for, and today we ordered 1 mini and 1 regular and they were the same size as each other. Never has that happened. We couldn't go in to ask what the heck and we didn't want to wait in the line again. The wait is a good 15 plus minutes.
Lately I have been very disappointed! If there are just a couple kids they take their sweet time. I was there 2 days ago during my lunch hour. There were 2 cars ahead of me when I arrived. I was in line for 20 min and was next in line but they kept talking to the passengers in the car in front of me and I had to get back to work. So I left.. I spent my entire lunch in your drive through. But what’s most frustrating is my order is always wrong!!! They charge me for all the ingredients I want but I don’t get what I pay for. It’s starting to upset me receiving an $8 custard when I pay $13. Several times I’ve even gotten someone else’s. I’ve confronted them and they will argue. The kids making them aren’t paying attention to what they’re supposed to be mixing especially if you’re asking for extra! Then the ones at the window just give you whatever is in front of them. Tonight there were 12-15 custards sitting at the window. The poor overwhelmed gentleman read out loud choc malted almond with double malt double almonds. Then proceeded to hand me a vanilla custard. I handed it back told him wrong one.. He then looked for a choc one and handed that to me. When I told him there wasn’t malt in it he told me yes there is a lot!! There wasn’t any malt and no extra almonds yet I paid for them, as I always do and get nothing!! Maybe you should have a system kinda like Starbucks? Get people’s names so they get the correct order. At night there are always so many kids on the night shift. They are always laughing with all their friends/co-workers and that’s fine it’s great they enjoy their job. But they should pay attention to what they are doing. They are there to serve customers too.
We love this custard! It’s always consistent and delicious. We love the simplicity of ordering, with limited flavors but lots of different mix in options everyone in our family can get exactly what they like. Vanilla with cookie dough, vanilla with Oreo and vanilla with raspberry are our go-to’s. But the chocolate take home pint is secretly the best.
Super yummy frozen custard. Still haven't reopened their lobby, but the drive-thru takes FOREVER! Their system really needs some updating as you order at the same drive up window where you pick up, so everyone behind you has to wait while your order is prepared. It just doesn't make sense.Food: 5/5
The custard is amazing! Best in town. The high school aged staff acts bothered that you're there, the wait is exceptionally long, and they used COVID as an an excuse to close the dining room, which used to help speed up the entire process. They have signs up explaining that they're "trying" to procure branded cups, but somehow haven't been able to accomplish that task in the entire last year. It feels disingenuous, at best. A concrete costs a small fortune $8. It's delicious, but I don't know if I'll keep going.
Bad marketing. Lobby all closed up, doors locked, no one allowed in, looks gross and neglected. Now, we can't come to Nielsen's with our family or groups of friends and sit around and have frozen custard like before. Just drive through, idle all your gas in this cramped drive through line, and for what? Eating ice cream is a social event,, going out event, and to only allow drive through is awful. Terrible management and marketing choice. Wouldn't be surprised if these guys go out of business.. Won't come here again.
If you have not had this you should. Not only have they been around for like forever the product is excellent. I only wish they would reopen the walk in area that was super nice to take a family sit and eat custard.Food: 5/5
we love nielsen’s! their custard is so yummy and we love their concretes. unfortunately, the crew tonight was super slow and unprofessional. nobody came outside to take orders, despite the line being more than ten cars long. the walls are glass and so we could see the staff griddying instead of doing anything else. the workers were distracted, awkward, and unhelpful. our ice cream was great as always though
I loved coming here years ago. I wish I still did. The quality has decreased significantly. For example, I ordered a raspberry concrete, and the only bite with any raspberry was the first, the rest was just vanilla. I heard some things about how the employees are treated, this might lead them to harboring some resentment and therefore putting in the bare minimum. I hope things turn around.
