Would not recommend. Very loud and super thin walls. Pretty rowdy crowd and definitely not a safe area. Lots of random people sneak into the building and steal packages. People walk around with dogs unleashed and my dog was attacked twice by people roaming halls without dogs on leash. Parties and screaming all night. Gun shots from the crowds on water hit one of the windows one time. And there had been several other shootings since in very close proximity. Charged 400 dollars for a broken fridge door that was not broken. Lots of other buildings in Milwaukee to choose from. Lady across the hall would leave garbage outside of her door for days at a time and hallways would reek of garbage. I would avoid!
Best location and amenities in Milwaukee in my opinion. I lived in a studio in Aperture the one above Fresh Thyme for 15 months, got my full security deposit back, and moved to a different city temporarily. When I decided to come back to Milwaukee, I did the whole apartment search again and still chose to move back to the same exact building upgraded to a convertible because I liked it so much. Been back another 6 months and still love it! The Aperture building seems to be mostly people in their upper 20s - 30s without kids and keep to themselves. Personally, I haven't heard loud parties ever, and I live on the river side where there isn't any noise from Water Street. Like any apartment building, yes sometimes there are issues that are out of management's control that could happen at any downtown apartment as mentioned in other reviews, but they address and look to resolve them. Jessica in the leasing office was super helpful each time I signed or had questions. I have friends in the other buildings who also love it here and keep extending their leases. It's walking distance to the river walk and bars, has a pool, gyms, dog run, courtyards, game room, sports room, bowling alley, etc. Appliances and interior are all modern. Sometimes I hear footsteps above me if they stomp, but I don't hear my neighbors between the walls or hallway. I have also parked my car on the street did free parking on Water St for a year and permit for 3 months and never had problems. It's a city - just be smart and don't own a Kia or leave stuff in your car. I feel safe as a female living alone, it really is a great community and I'd say the best complex in Milwaukee downtown.
I loved my time living at The North End. You can’t beat the location - walking distance to numerous restaurants, bars, grocery stores and the Deer District. My unit was great, it had lots of natural light and storage space. I especially loved the big balcony that overlooked the river. The management and maintenance teams were always very friendly and easy to work with and fixed issues in a timely manner. I would highly recommend The North End Apartments.
Absolutely do not rent here. Please read if you’re even considering it. To say the area isn’t the safest is an understatement - gun shots can often be heard, even hitting windows of the building. Cars have been stolen directly from our “secured” garage with management not taking any action, they wouldn’t even install cameras. They claim to have security patrolling but never once have I seen them. The people living here are so incredibly noisy and the walls are thin. People don’t clean up after their dogs or even walk them on a leash. My roommate and I were extremely tidy, clean people and over half of our security deposit was taken for “dirty” showers, cabinets, dishwashers, pretty much everything that was inside the apartment. They took photos of the apartment after we moved out and the “dirty” cabinets in question had legitimately one crumb in the corner. When asked for a refund, the financial rep from the company, Liz, simply laughed at our very reasonable request and offered us 20 bucks. The management seems polite in your brief interactions, but in the ones that count they couldn’t be more rude and pretentious. Don’t walk, run away from this place.
Would not recommend renting here for many reasons. No matter how clean you keep your apartment, you will not see your security deposit back. My roommate and I lived here for one year and kept our place very clean but we still had significant deductions from our security deposit for things like “dirty cabinets”, “dirty showers”, despite our scrubbing and cleaning the entire apartment before moving out. We politely spoke with management and asked about getting some of our money back, and they were incredibly rude and unhelpful. All sources of water in the apartment had a buildup of slimy mold that would re-accumulate days after being cleaned up showers, sinks, toilets, ice maker and especially* the water dispenser on the fridge. Our neighbors complained of similar problems with mold. The walls are incredibly thin and we were able to hear parties going on any day of the week. The building is relatively safe locked doors but the area surrounding is becoming more and more dangerous and oftentimes people would be let in and steal packages, etc. Multiple cars have even been stolen from the “secure” parking lots. My roommate and I were drawn to this apartment for its amenities, especially the pool. However we wished that someone would have warned us that it is essentially impossible to find a spot at the pool on the weekend, and you are only allowed to bring 1 guest with you. Overall, it was not worth the price it costs to live here.
I lived here a few years ago and ended up coming back because I enjoyed it so much. The location is unbeatable, loved my unit, the courtyard, the amenities, but most importantly, the staff! Maintenance was unreal and always showed up within a couple hours, and everyone at the office was extremely friendly and helpful. I'm moving out of state and will miss everyone!
FIND A DIFFERENT APARTMENT TO LIVE IN. Unfortunately, I do not feel as though this is a safe place to live, nor is it worth the extremely high rent prices. The crime on water street has increased exponentially, but safety measures in the apartment have not improved. The apartment complex is advertised as “luxury living” yet the garage door is often broken, packages are stolen, and rent increases every year. They even refuse to put dog shampoo in the “dog spa” that they advertise about so it’s literally just water. They charge thousands of dollars a month, but refuse to put any money into improving the building for their residents. My car was parked on the street and was hit and totaled. We asked management to increase their security cameras inside and outside the building, and we were told that it’s not their responsibility. A couple weeks later, another car of a resident was hit and totaled in a hit and run outside of the building. They still refuse to increase security measures to improve the safety and security of their residents. When packages are stolen, they tell the resident that it is their responsibility to inform their neighbors to not let strangers in the building, rather than accepting responsibility for their lack of security measures.
Has gone downhill the longer I lived here. Moved in to the North End in December 2020 and initially enjoyed living there. For anything related to maintenance, things were always addressed quickly and professionally. Over the past year, crime has increased exponentially, my visitors who parked on the street had their cars broken into or hit causing a total loss. I have had multiple packages stolen. Management is slow to react to these issues and has not implemented meaningful changesenhanced security systems at the front door, more cameras, etc.. Some tenants are loud and there is a party atmosphere summer predominantly. Rent has increased dramatically yet the quality of living here and safety aspect has definitely worsened. I no longer think this is a safe area in Milwaukee based on how things currently stand with it being in between Water St. and Brady St. As things get more expensive you want to feel like what you are spending your money on is worth it, and I do not think that is true anymore concerning this apartment complex.
The apartment/ amenities are so gross. I moved Into my unit with a bunch of stuff broken and dirty, they clearly did not check everything before moving a person in to live, let alone clean, which is disgusting. After I’ve tried to clean the appliances it shows stains and has a moldy smell. The whole complex smells like trash because they don’t do a good job of cleaning out the trash rooms. There are so many hidden fees, I’m out of town a lot for work, so I don’t utilize a lot of water, and I get charged the same as my neighbors and there’s so many more little fees you’ll see on your bill. For how expensive it is, you’d expect much better and nicer.
Management was very responsive, flexible and accommodating from the time I arrived to leaving a few years later. Took a few months to get used to the street noise but that’s what I signed up for with my own personal street access. Excellent location. Walked everywhere, rarely needing to drive.
