Amazing food and great service. The calamari were the best we’ve tried in the US, the eggplant parmigiana sandwich was to die for and the last surprise came with the desert which as a classing cannoli but with a cinnamon twist in the crust. They even accommodated my little sister who only eats plain pasta.

Kind of disappointing!! Food took a long time because there was only one person there and they had a catering order, but they did warn us. We went and got a drink somewhere else while we waited they have a limited drink selection and no happy hour…they called us when food was ready. There’s no table service so they pack it to go and you can eat outside. The calamari was soggy and covered with old bay seasoning I was VERY disappointed with that. The chicken parm was pretty good though. I think there’s some other spots that I prefer over this one so won’t be back.

For Capitol Hill residents, Nostra Cucina is a favorite. Behind beloved Schneider's of Capitol Hill, it's in a small building on a residential block. Before the pandemic, the small space had dining tables, but now it's a takeout only place during the pandemic. Here's our experience ordering pick up on a Friday evening:  1 Food: Being an Italian spot, they have all the usual favorites from pasta to pizza to caprese salad to canolli. To feed five of us, we ordered the chicken parm, baked cheese tortillini, caprese salad, meatball sub and chicken parm sub. We had way too much food as portions are huge for D.C. The standouts were the Caesar side salads that came with the subs and the chicken parm. The other items were good too, but not life changing.  2 Service: Super nice staff who have 20 years experience of cooking Italian food. Pickup was easy.  If you want comfort Italian food, go here!

We got the eggplant parmigiana and the chicken Alfredo!! Soooo delicious, the homemade noodles are so good and the sauce is great as well. The eggplant was one of the best close to my moms! I will definitely come back and try something different!! This is a must try!! The wait was a little long but for the amount and the quality I would do it again

The food is exceptional, best Italian since Italy. The eggplant parm was the best I have ever had. Though extremely busy, Taylor was wonderful. We are so thankful we stumbled upon this restaurant on our visit DC.

Great staff! The bartender that packaged up our food was great to chat with, and really helped hone in on that chill, welcoming, family vibe. My son loved taking with him about a show on the TV and while we waited for our food he convinced us to try the desserts. They were AMAZING! The portions are huge and the pizza and chicken parm are excellent.  Next time we're in town we're going to try the eggplant.  Thank you for great service leading the way to excellent food!!!

I found Nostra Cucina disappointingly. I used to go there many years when it was under a different management. The lightly classy The hostess and waiters wore ties, etc and the menu had more enticing items. Ex. Seafood pasta. Now, after a renovation and change of management, the place looks just a little better than a flat carry out staff wearing t-shirts, all too informal and the items in the menu are boring average.

Felt like I was a burden. My food was fine, but it felt like one of those places that does not welcome new people. Very much a neighborhood place and I got the sense that our server was exasperated having to deal with people who don't know how this little restaurant works. Also, FYI - Parties larger than 4 cannot sit inside and if you want to eat outside, wait until it gets colder or you will be swatting at mosquitos the entire time.

Dinner was absolutely delicious! Will definitely be returning, such a nice local spot.  FYI- it's pretty small so there aren't many tables inside. Seating wasn't available when we first arrived, but they took down my number & called right when one was available!

I cannot say enough about this quaint jewel. In an effort to steer clear of chain restaurants,  I came across Nostra and decided to try them out today...so glad I did. With every exquisite bite you can taste the freshness of homemade cooking. The portions are healthy, so you may have to loosen a button before you leave. Our server was Jose and he was friendly and attentive. Will definitely return.
