If you love ceramics, local books, candles, teas, and other small gifts curated from talented artisans, you will not want to pass up visiting this shop. Tucked away in Sellwood, everything about this shop feels peaceful and calm. From the gorgeous atmosphere, to the pottery wheel behind the front counter, you feel both inspired to create your own handmade crafts and buy everything they've created! You will not be disappointed if you can't make it in person and you need to shop on their website - so many beautiful options.
I ordered from the Notary Ceramics online store and initially had an issue, but their customer service was great about clearing it up. I was accidentally sent the wrong size towel bar, but when I messaged them about the error, they immediately sent me the right size. The quality and design of the piece is great the included screws were good quality too, and it exactly fit what I needed for an oddly shaped space. I wanted to leave a review specifically because they were quick to remedy my issue, which I appreciate. Ordering from a smaller online store can sometimes feel like a gamble. But I feel confident about ordering from Notary Ceramics after my experience with them and I'll probably do so again in the future.
I've only been able to order online repeatedly so far, and it's always been a great experience. Love the products, the owner and staff are amazing, and the ceramics are beyond stunning. Looking forward to visiting the shop one day and possibly buy everything in one fell swoop.
I walked by Notary Ceramics and popped in for the first time today. It was a great experience! The shopkeeper was kind, helpful and very welcoming! I think it's cool that they make all of their ceramics on site and stock so much from around the world. There's even a small parking lot outside that makes their shop easily accessible. There's really no down side!
This little store is so beautifully curated. The pieces are so simple and elegant, and I was able to walk away with this pretty incense set. The owner is absolutely lovely and intentional about the charming details, I just had a wonderful experience.
My very favorite place to be! It’s the sweetest studio with a shop inside. It’s run by one of the kindest women you will ever meet. She’s a mother of 2 darling girls and still manages to run a very successful ceramics business filled with beautiful, unique, handmade pieces. I love being able to suppor a strong woman killing it in the creative industry!
Super beautiful space filled with equally beautiful goods. Staff were super friendly and it was neat to see ceramics being made. Got a candle holder and the sweetest little itty bitty bowl with spoon for my precious salt flakes.
Stumbled on this shop after thinking I could have something notarized there and was so happy to find a woman owned business - and the owner was inside on the pottery wheel! Anyway, the product she makes is beautiful and unique. So happy to have found this place!
Notary is my happy place. Not only is the shop styled to wabi-sabi perfection, but every piece is uniquely and organically crafted. You'll most likely find Sarah, the owner, at the wheel when you arrive. Warning: you will dump all your adult money on her goods so be prepared. I can't say enough good things about Sarah's pottery and the ambiance she's created at Notary.
Arrived today at 5:30pm and saw that the shop was closed half an hour early, despite being within shop hours : we came from San Francisco and this was one of the shops I really had wanted to visit. For now, I’ll admire virtually. Update: Appreciate the response and reinstating my review. I can’t speak to the shop itself but the pieces online are wonderful.
