TAIWAN Eat the World NYC review: In its most traditional form, the kind of rice roll fan tuan served here at Nuan Xin was simple and came from Shanghai. The fried dough eaten for breakfast and known as youtiao was wrapped in glutinous rice and served with either sweet or savory soy milk depending on the preferences of the customer. In recent years, in both Hong Kong and Taiwan, the fan tuan game has been taken to another level, with all types of ingredients, extra wrappers, and so many options. This wave has started coming to Chinese communities abroad as well, with all types of fan tuan being enjoyed in Chinatowns everywhere. Nuan Xin has come on the scene recently and in a little over a year expanded to four locations already. Two are located in Sunset Park, one in Bensonhurst, and most recently in Manhattan. They describe this location at 8th Avenue and 53rd Street their flagship. Back in Taiwan, pickled mustard greens have been an ingredient for just about as long as fan tuan have been being created. Meat was not always an accessible and affordable filling, but Nuan Xin pairs their pickled mustard greens with a smooth and slightly sweet braised pork. The braised pork with preserved vegetable rice roll $3.95 might have just been the winner of an initial order, topped off like others with their special cream sauce.
Visited twice and their waiters’ services are TERRIBLE. I normally visit their 59st location, and I like their food and services. The waiters are always nice kind and welcome. But this location is terrible, they are like “take it or leave it” attitude. Well I’m here to buy food not your attitude. Will NEVER visit this location again.
My kids love the rice rolls, super yummy and healthy! With the combinations of veggies and choices of meat. And the drinks are very refreshing.
Nice place and good teas.
nice i ofen eat it
Translated by Google I bought two flavors of pork and the signature on rice balls wrapped in purple rice. I think the signature is not bad and the fillings are quite varied. Original
Translated by Google If there are 0 stars, I will give it. bad attitude. Things are very confusing. I ordered a spicy squid rice ball and a small squid. Good pit. Original 0
Translated by Google It's so different from the one on 59th Street, Rice balls are very confusing. There is a pile of rice and sauce on the side, which is ugly. A lot of rice is hard. unpalatable waste money Original 59
Translated by Google If you can 0 0, I really want to give it to the milk tea purple rice ice! It’s an ordinary iced rice after opening. It’s really unpalatable. Original 0
