5 stars is for the food . Not the nicest restaurant but boy were we happy with our food. .the steak and cheese empanadas were amazing . . The rice was excellent as well. . If I didn't live in Connecticut i would be there every other day to eat .
I useto love their Cuban sandwiches, but I went last night, it was not good at all. All they added was the fat of the pernil, the bread wasn't pressed, all sloppy, just not good I ordered 4 liberty and 2 of the Cuban empanadas, the pork was messy and not what they useto be. As an authentic Puerto Rican cook, they no longer taste what it was 3 years ago. The owner needs to care and make sure the cooks do better, otherwise this place will eventually get worse. Take pride in your food, and not your over prices.
they make some of the best empanadas i’ve tried in my life fr!!!!! el coqui is my favorite it’s so reminiscent of being in puerto rico and eating your abuela’s food omg! soooo good
“I can’t even re-sell this” I placed an order on the phone and specified that it would be for 2 adults & 2 children… the receptionist said* they had a COMBO that could feed 4… I placed the order for the GRAN CHAUFA WITH CHICKEN with 2 empanadas, and a side of fries if you want to call that a side for 30$…My boyfriend walks into the place to pay for the order and when he brings it back to my surprise the GRAND COMBO was the size of a Chinese food order…… enough to feed ONE….the fries must of been picked ONE BY ONE… INFLATION IS REAL but the portion was disgusting, the owner is catty, it could of went worse…. She insisted if I wanted one more fry and a tablespoon more of rice I must pay extra to feed 2 leaving 2 OTHERS WITHOUT A PORTION…… then proceeded to telling me “she couldn’t even resell because I don’t know what you did to it” ….. and my response was “ you can’t resell it I CANT FEED 4 I guess we both lose” then she goes on to saying “it’s not the same” NEXT TIME GIVE BETTER PORTIONS, I should not be fighting for my refund… TAKE YOUR FOOD AND GIVE ME MY MONEY! Please don’t come here !!! Worse ESTABLISHMENT IVE EVER WALKED INTO !! even the Dominican restaurants KNOW BETTER !
The food is amazing, I have so many things to still try on the menu. I love the pizza empanada the best so far, but I have only tasted two.
I'm not sure what happen to O' Lala, but this was not the food I was used to love and rave about. I ordered the chicken and shrimp chauffa, sweet plantains, and empanadas. The Chauffa rice was horribly made and taste terrible. Very salty and my sweet plantains were burnt. The empanadas were so so, but for a placed named O'Lala "empanadas" that should be the best thing on the menu. I think they have new owners and definitely new cooks because the quality is not the same.
Today is Sunday they are open 12pm to 8pm I arrived at 11:50am I saw a white lady opened up at exactly 12pm! So we decided to run errands to give her some time to open. We came back at 1pm! And it’s now closed.
Their empanadas are overpriced and taste too dry and salty. Very disappointed.
Delicious, creative empanadas, both savory and sweet. They also have entrees and sides. Small place, and not the best location, but you can usually find a spot right out front.
Fantastic lunch/brunch place! We love all the menu choices for adults and kids! Special thanks to Hector G., Karina V. and Fabian - manager! we have visited the Ola restaurant on several occasions - December 2020 and March 2022 - the ambiance, seat placements for large groups and food was above and beyond! Staying in Vanderbilt hotel or not - always a pleasant time! More photos and info - follow the Instagram blogger @annajustofficial
