OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital

OHSU has an amazing staff. At the end of the day it’s a medical team and it’s only as good as it’s leadership as any public service job goes. But the physicians and nurses are 5 star. Keep in mind these folks working here serve the city of Portland with a population of 600k+ residents and it’s a million+ if you count Portland and the surrounding areas. I have a son with an immune disease who spends a lot of time in and out of the hospital, and the team always makes him feel like he’s important. I’ve never had the vibe that we’re a burden and everyone we’ve worked with has been great. As a parent who’s never dealt with any of this prior to my sons health, I’ve always had my questions answered and had help so I can get a meal or step out knowing my sons in a safe place. Dornbechers has given me hope in a hopeless situation. These are good people, don’t believe the nonsense on the reviews. I wouldn’t have half the piece of mind I do right now if I didn’t have the ohsu team helping my family through all this. I’m beyond impressed and forever thankful.

I woukd give 10 stars if it was an option. My daughter went in a week or so ago with a broken arm after being transferred from our local hospital. With the exception of one Dr along the journey you know who you are, EVERYONE made sure they had our 5 year old's trust before doing their work. 2 nights ago, she suffered from minor complications from the cast, everyone from the MAs and RNs all the way up to the surgical team led by Dr Halsey sp? were absolute angels. So much love of the job eminated from them. They made everyone feel like their only priority. We went in thru children's emergency and spent a total of about 30 seconds in the waiting room and immediately got in to be seen. It was an 8-10 hour visit, but we never went more than a few minutes without care, or an update from the nurses. Nobody WANTS to have to take their child to the ER, but if you NEED to, Doernbecher's is the only place to go. Hands down. Skip the stop in Longview. Make the drive. We went in at 0830 on October 10th 2022. Admin should check payroll records and give a hefty raise to everyone that helped 5 Y/O Ms. Wood

My biggest complaint is a few months ago their team neglected to tell us that only 1 parent could stay in the room with our 1 year old after driving 4 hours to get to them after she was rushed there by ambulance, very unprofessional people. The person that gave me a list of the motels to stay at was rude as hell and after THEIR team messed up they should have been the one paying for my motel. My daughter got well but they don't communicate well on some levels

This is for the neurology part, Appointments are booked out there's no availability. Next available appointment I was told was January 10th at 8:00 a.m. and I was the only one available. I had to call my child's doctor's office to get her for out to a different neurologist office someplace with better availability. This appointment is for car accident that occurred in April of 2022.

Staff and doctors are very rude and unprofessional. No one is willing to explain what they are planning on doing and and act like it is an inconvenience to explain things to parents. My daughter is currently admitted there, and she is terrified of her experience. Once they release her we will never be returning to this place.

OHSU Doernbecher has been amazing for every visit. Not only have they taken the time make sure we understand everything, but they've gone out of their way to help the kids be calm and as happy as possible while doing what needs done. They've also always worked to have all our appointments scheduled close together and not have us wait for an hour or more between appointments during our visits each visit usually being 2-4 appointments and been considerate of our travel time to get there.

Had a great experience with the CDRC clinic! I’ve spent years having my concerns written off, mislabeled or rebuked by various pediatricians and education staff. Going into the CDRC clinic today was such a breath of fresh air. Three different doctors evaluated my 8 year old for a wide range of mental health and developmental conditions. They all were so warm, kind and thoughtful in their process. At no point did I feel rushed through - they took their time to discuss and look at every concern and possibility. In the end we walked out with an official ADHD diagnosis. I’m so thrilled - ADHD has been mine and my husband’s primary suspicion for a couple years now. Many a pediatrician had told me to be patient and my daughter would just ‘grow out of’ her behaviors - others expressed concerns for conditions I knew in my heart were not the right fit. CDRC made me feel heard and validated. I am grateful for the kindness and support they offered my daughter. Many thanks to Dr. Kube, Dr. Greene & Dr. MacReady. I would highly recommend this clinic to any parent looking to get answers on how to better support and understand their child. Also, a shout out to Starbucks located right inside the Doernbecher main entrance! I’m sure many a parent, doctor and kiddo appreciate this convenient location for refreshments, caffeine, snacks and treats.

Staff and specialist are great! They explain everything very well and leave me feeling confident that my child is in good hands. Only negative is that they are very busy and booked rather far out.

I went here for a surgery when I was 12, they have a game room with an Xbox, if I hadn't gone there like 2 days sooner I would've had to have my leg removed. The food was good I think.
