Just down the street from the capitol building in a beautiful building, the Smithsonian affiliate History Center was worth the visit. We only spent 1.5 hours and should have spent 3 hours to get to dive deeper into the excellent exhibits. As someone from outside Oklahoma, I particularly liked the Inasmuch section and how risk takers and entrepreneurs impacted the state and its people.
This is an amazing place to visit if you are in Oklahoma City for a day, for a week, or if you live here. The History Center is packed with excellent things to see, well preserved, meticulously organized and clearly explained. You will learn not only about history of Oklahoma state but also culture, manufacturing, music and space exploration.
The floor layout was a little confusing but the exhibits are well organized. The building is very handicap accessible so this is a good activity for people of all mobility levels.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$11–15
We had a fantastic experience hosting our company holiday party at the Oklahoma History Center Museum. We worked with Gabriel and he was prompt and professional. Easy to work with and made sure to have everything done ahead of time so we didn't have to worry about anything. The facility was beautiful, and we will be back in the future!
We had the OCPAC Foundation meeting here on Wednesday. It is a great place for meeting. We received valuable information and education about our city and nation, connecting grassroots to government and culture.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entry$11–15
Today my tutor and homeschool co-op business ALIS LLC visited this place. I took a group of my students and we split up to a 1:4 ratio, utilizing four chaperones and two assistant chaperones. We had an amazing experience! We learned so much. This was the first time that we have ever visited this place and honestly, I didn’t think it was a museum all this time. A problem did arise that DID NOT involve the Oklahoma History Center and they were ON their toes to help. We appreciate that! Anywho, we are looking to visit again, because two hours isn’t enough time to really dive into all the artifacts and exhibits there.
I absolutely love this place! I've been coming here since I was little as well, and now I'm bringing my little one too. I love all the history that I still learn no matter how many times I visit, every time is a new experience.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$11–15
The outdoor area is free and way more interesting than the indoor area!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$11–15
Actually went thinking it would be boring and corny but ended with a completely different thought. It was fun and amazing, it was interactive and educational. It even allowed me to introduce my Gen Z 16 yr old to a whole world of things. We had a blast and highly recommend.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entry$6–10
The OK History Center/museum is more than okay. High quality exhibits that tell the complex story of Oklahoma. There are many interactive exhibits enjoyable for all ages. Definitely worth a few hours for both the indoor and outdoor exhibits.
