Okoboji Grill

So this was our first time here and we enjoyed and I’m glad I had not read the other negative reviews first or I wouldn’t of tried. I ordered the Iowa Pork Chops and got the bourbon glaze on it. This was a THICK cut pork chop and it was done perfectly soo juicy. It also came with two sides and a salad. Talk about plenty of food. My boyfriend got the Salomon. For me it was a little to fishy not that it was bad and I know you can’t get fresh salmon in Iowa so can’t be overly picky there. Now the two down sides the salmon was not cooked all the way through and my cheese curd seemed to have been cooked first then sat. So timing seems to need to be worked on. Our waitress was a super friendly and fast lady. I would definitely come back.

Disgusting, drove an hour to go there tonight. Waited forever for our food. Waitress never checked on us while waiting. Got our food. Mine was still cold and def not “fried” at all..chicken fried steak.. another person at the table had a bug in their food. We finally got waitress over and she didn’t apologize offer to fix new..nothing, she took 50% off of one meal and that was it, made us pay for the rest.. for one meal w a big and another with 2 bites out of it..disgusting and so not okay. Also, behind the bar the Bartender had her child maybe 9-11 years old behind the bar w her the entire time and also doing dishes for her..wth?! Will NOT be going back!!!

We had the breaded pork tenderloin with their special fries. Very nice size and still a good thickness. I look for quality instead of how large it is. The tenderloin was very good with great flavor. Price was reasonable. If you have a group order the onion ring appetizer. You won't be disappointed. We will definitely go back to try some of the burger selections.

My husband said when he came here years ago it was great food so we decided to take our friend there tonight. It was very disappointing. We asked the server and another person about a half hour later if they could put one of the games on the tv in front of us that wasn’t playing anything and it never happened. My husband ordered a steak medium well, it came out medium rare so he asked it be taken back. When it came back it was still very very pink so she took it back again and it was like they were frustrated and over cooked it and pressed it so all the flavor was gone when he got it back the last time. It tasted like leather. Didn’t even offer a discount or anything. My friend ordered boneless wings and got bone-in wings. No apology was given. When it was time to pay she only brought us back the bills and kept our 63 cents. I’ve worked in food service for 8 years and my husband managed a steakhouse for years and We are so disappointed. We will never return. And I encourage people to not waste their time or money.

Waitress was pleasant but not attentive. Food was ok at best. Husband's burger was pretty rare for being asked to be well done and the bun was so greasy it fell apart when he picked it up. My salad was mostly the inner part of the head and very white. If the waitress had checked on us after serving us we might have gotten this stuff fixed, but she never did. She did bring the check finally and we told her the burger was terrible and she walked away. Not likely to return or recommend.

I pass by this location after work and always appears busy. So I figured I would stop in after work it was late, but the were kind enough to serve me. I placed my order to go, as I waited I looked around at the layout. It felt comfy, mind you I practically had the whole place to myself. They have plenty or room inside and out just don't eat outside during winter, there's plenty of snow. So if you haven't been here give them a try. Two thumbs up.

The hostess was a older lady and was extremely rude. She frowned the entire time and was clearly not happy to be there. Our server was great. He got our food out to us in a very timely manner. He made it a more pleasant experience. The food was fantastic. I got a frozen margarita and it was super thick with mostly ice though.

Sat down to eat at 4pm Drinks didn't even come out until 425. Our server acted like she was not happy doing her job. Like we were an inconvenience to her. We ordered the appetizers at the same time as the drinks. Those were brought out soggy and cold at 445. No appetizer plates. Finally when the waitress came back around 5pm we asked that she brings the check and has the kitchen just put our food in To-Go boxes. She yelled at us that we HAVE NOT been there an hour. We asked to speak to owner and he acted as though he had spent some time in the bar. All in all if you can. Save yourself the time and money.

Food was okay, but my fish was very undercooked. Our waitress was very sweet but obviously overwhelmed. The bar next to our table was bustling and the customers and bartender there were loud, rude, and profane so maybe ask to be seated away from the bar if you have little ears. We waited 10 minutes to be seated even though there were few customers other than the bar. Overall it was just okay, probably wouldn't go back.

I ordered the grilled salmon dinner platter. Came in with my wife and 7 others. The food tasted great and especially the Boji Fries. Side salad could have used a tomato. And the only thing stopping me from giving 5 stars was the fact that there were so many flies flying around where we were sitting. Right now I can see about 8-9 flies flying around our table. I know flies can sometimes get inside from the outside but it’s hard to enjoy a meal when they start flying in your food. A fly here and there is no big deal. But 10 or more by our table alone is unpleasant. Either way we’ll likely come back.
