Old Capitol Inn Rooftop Bar

The building has an abundance of character, courteous and attentive staff, and delicious breakfast. As we were leaving we discovered the beautiful patio out back and asked if they served lunch. As luck would have it, they are in the process of a soft opening for lunches and we decided to stay. And are we glad we did. This was such an unexpected pleasant surprise. So glad we found it.

Everything at the Old Capitol Inn is amazing, the food, the rooms, the atmosphere. Everyone I've spoken with has been so kind and welcoming, the gated parking is wonderful and I have only had to drive about 10 miles away from the hotel to get to where I needed to go, very nice location. We got to stay in the Mississippi Delta room, it was so lovely. Keep being amazing, Old Capitol, we'll see you again soon!

I write this review as I sit in a room at the Old Capitol Inn. It is, I believe, my fourth or fifth stay. To the few guests who have left negative reviews, I can only say that you either had an extremely anomalous visit, or you are far too entitled to ever appreciate any hotel, regardless of the quality. Every time I've stayed here the room and the hotel in general have been beautiful and clean; the staff has been friendly, helpful, and very accommodating; and the owners, when I've met them, have shown tremendous appreciation for their guests. On top of all that, the rates are very reasonable given the quality of the hotel. The breakfast is always top notch, and - to respond to the guest who complained about the buffet not being open when there are too few guests - the one time this happened to me, in lieu of the buffet the chef came out and asked my companion and me what we'd like for breakfast and then cooked it to order. That should result in a higher rating, not lower. If you're staying in downtown Jackson and you're not staying at the Old Capitol Inn, you've made a mistake. This place is absolutely fantastic.

Skip to main content We have stayed in many boutique hotels in our travels and this one is one of the best! Honestly, if you are traveling through Mississippi this is the hotel to stay in. First of all, we want to give a big shout out to the following team members: Princeton - A great person; he made us feel welcome from the first time we talked to him on the phone. He greeted us upon our arrival and made us feel welcome, almost like he was inviting us into his home. He delivered needed items to our room without hesitation and we saw him around the hotel doing whatever needed to be done with a smile on his face. Christa - Bar Assistant did a great job with serving and checking up on us even under extremely busy conditions. Very accommodating with a smile Christy Lee - Bartender - Very professional and accommodating under very busy conditions Top notch employees!!! The grounds were beautiful with an interior garden, modern furnishings, large banquet room for gatherings, lovely rooms all with an intimate feel, and great rooftop bar open on Thurs, Fri, Sat with nightly local musicians. The stay included a delicious full breakfast with lovely pastries, biscuits, gravy, fruits, meats and eggs. Wow!!! We stayed one night in this very nice hotel in the heart of the city. We had a huge, very comfy suite. We also enjoyed breakfast.Rooms: 5/5

This was our first Boutique style hotel, the Big chains can learn alot from Old Capital Inn. Customer Service, room and food all were FIRST RATE, our new staying stop in Jackson.Service: 5/5

The breakfast was so, soooooo tastie!! And the rooms were very clean. I was especially impressed with how clean was the whole bathroom - including the tub

Rooms are charming, staff is accommodating and polite, food is great and consistent and rooftop experience is very relaxing.

I stayed for two nights in May 2022. What a great experience. Extremely friendly check in process and the gentleman at the front desk even offered to give me a ride to the train station when I was departing. Very comfortable room and lovely courtyard for breakfast/reading. A one minute walk from the civil rights museum and near downtown makes this an exceptional place to stay for a brief visit to this very interesting city.
