Old Chicago

This is my go-to every time we visit Iowa! Love the variety of wing sauce, Spinach dip & chips. The personal sized pizza dish is the best!

Had a VERY nice lunch at Old Chicago in Ankeny on October 7th my Birthday last week. We arrived just after noon, and was surprised that it was more crowded. But, we were lucky and were seated immediately, and our waitress was with us within a minute. Missy was really nice, took our order and was back with our soft drinks quickly. We ordered our go-to "Meat Me" with OC Thick Crust. The Meat Me pizza is a combination of Italian sausage, Canadian bacon, sausage, pepperoni, green olive and basil. So, as far as the pizza goes, it was fantastic. As usual, I try to find something about a dish that sets it apart of other dishes in this case - pizza that we can get at any number of places in town, and you know this if you follow me. With the Old Chicago Meat Me, it's easy ... you get a flavor explosion with every bite. Seriously. Here's the cool part. Missy found out it was my birthday, and treated us to an ice cream sundae on the house. How cool is that? Hell yeah - extra tip for her!!! The restrooms? You knew it was coming. At this time on a Friday noon hour, I can report that there was a bit of debris on the floor in the men's room as well as some water splashed on the sink area. Not bad. Most important, the floors were dry. Good job Old Chicago!

Pickle chips were over cooked cheesecake didn’t have any strawberries or blueberries just sauce thrown over the top. Ordered this in Omaha and it was amazing but wow will not go back here 100 down the drain

Food is OK, nothing special. Wait staff is unattentive, we had to find our own silverware and napkins. When the food was served, we had to get our own condiments off other tables. If not for being honest we could have easily walked out with out paying. Walked up to the bar to get our bill. Never saw the wait staff after we got our food.

Last minute switch on a Saturday night. No wait. Food was very good. Service was excellent. I am very picky if my drink goes empty, and it did not. Very happy with the night here. Update: Came to town next day And did lunch. The pizzas looked good and wanted to try them.

This location has improved a lot since a year ago. The food has been very good the five times we've been here over the last two months. We love the Detroit style pizza and I hope they bring the cheesesteak rolls in permanently. The beer selection is always an adventure as they seem to be out of things frequently, but there is still always a good variety and they do keep hard seltzers on hand. Service has been hit and miss, but if they continue to hire more servers it will get more consistent.

Brought my family in for a nice dinner. We got our appetizer and it was awesome. But then we waited an hour for our meals. Our waitress was very nice and I did ask why we waited so long, which they were short handed and had new cooks. But my coleslaw tasted very sour and our food had been sitting for a bit. $80 for two adults and two kids, just not really worth it in the end in my opinion.

The waitress was busy talking to friends. Then found a tip she had to take to get friends to discuss. Saw us, walked away. Finally came back and took our order. We almost left we waited so long. Will see how the food and service is...... So far even the water tastes like bleach. Can't drink it. The food was really good however. Had to ask for ranch twice. Fix the poor service and maybe a higher rating.

The food is always great and my daughter thinks they have THE best chicken tenders. However, our first visit had great service, the second visit the service was the exact opposite. So a little hit or miss on service. The bar area tends to get loud if you're seated next to it.Food: 5/5

Today was BAD. Waited over 10 minutes for a drink, so I ordered as fast as I could knowing staff was short. As much as I wanted to offer patience, I ended up eating with no silverware and no drink. Zero plans to go back. Don’t waste your time. They have no staff.
