I'm a landlord and have dealt with contractors for over 20 years. I had my first fire claim this past October with a townhouse rental and State Farm recommended Old Dominion Specialty Construction. I could not have been happier with the whole process of having the kitchen replaced and the entire interior painted after mitigation. JR managed the job for ODSC. He was professional, responsive, friendly and reliable. If he said his crew would arrive at 8:00 am, that's when they arrived. Would highly recommend JR and ODSC to anyone needing renovation work done.
Our construction is complete, and we would like to express our appreciation for your team on the reconstruction to our home. We had a vast amount of storm damage when a tree crushed our house. We called our insurance agent immediately and he recommended your company. Your team helped in various ways. The in-house estimator helped with the insurance aspect and design, He brought to light detailed items during inspection and continuously worked with our insurance company to obtain the funds to get the job completed. The project manager worked closely with us to ensure we were satisfied with construction and our choices. He was in touch constantly, keeping us informed of paperwork and construction timelines. He included us in making choices to the construction to make sure we were happy with the completion. We would like to say that everyone was always considerate, willing to accommodate and happy to explain any and all aspects of what was going on.We felt comfortable having them in our home and working on our property. No one wants to go through an experience of destruction but we are VERY pleased that we chose your company.
We had a pipe burst in our basement a while back and they were contracted through our insurance company. They were TERRIBLE!! 1 Dented baseboards were not fixed/replaced because, according to the head contractor, they were damaged by the people who removed our water logged carpet, not the flood itself. 2 The guys who painted/repaired the walls left the sliding glass door open and left for the day. It was the in the middle of summer, and it wasn't noticed until the rest of the house started to warm up. 3 The paint job in the bedroom downstairs had many large raised spots, as if many face-height holes had been spackled and not sanded down properly. Thing is, there were never holes there before or after the flooding, so I am, to this day, unsure of what those large spots are attributed to. 4 Baseboards in the bedroom were replaced and painted. When the new carpet was installed they were dented. I pointed this out to the head contractor when he came to do his final walk through. He said that that was there before the flooding. I had to show him pictures that showed the old baseboards were removed and replaced prior to carpet being laid. His answer to that: Paint over the dents so it blended in. 5 The cement floor had a small crack in it, unsure of what from from before the flood...we've been in the house for almost 20 years. It was made worse during the renovation process but was not mentioned to us, no offer to repair, and carpet was laid over top of it without a second thought. Well, now that area apparently leaks when it rains, and our newly renovated basement has a corner with water damage and ruined carpet that we have to find a new company to repair. Given the option, I would highly suggest you use someone else!
We had a large hole in our roof due to wind damage and ODSC was recommended to us by our Homeowners Insurance carrier. They were GREAT!!! They responded quickly and helped to work with our insurance to repair the roof and restore our MB closet. Everything went smoothly and the repair came out beautifully.
We recently had Old Dominion help us in the aftermath of a flooded basement. They did excellent work and kept us abreast every step of the way. Everyone was prompt, reliable, professional, and courteous. We would not hesitate to have them help us in the future with general repairs. Thanks Old Dominion!
Jim came out to give us a quote on my flooded basement reno and decided that since I had another contractor come out previously, he wasn't going to bid the job at all. Very unprofessional right from the start so I wouldn't have hired this company just based on this interaction.
It's been 1 week and no one will return a call or answer their phones. Poor customer service. Job was never done right and they apparently don't stand by their work... They simple contract their work out, you'd be best saving your money and finding your own contractor. I had to actually call from different phone number to get the Project Manager to answer the phone. Now that is just horrible... Just a simple call to say anything but they just avoid you.
Terrible company to deal with. The people they subcontract out to actually do the work do a horrible job and don’t stand by the estimate. I caught so many things that were on the estimate that they did not do but we’re paid for. I will say they refunded me some money for some of the things after I proved them wrong. If you need a company like this, find a different one.
Always a great experience working with Old Dominion Specialty Construction. Helpful, informative and friendly people who go the extra mile to do a great job!
