I was a little skeptical in dining here because of all the negative reviews, but I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner. The service was fast and our server, Anton, was courteous and attentive. I visited at 6pm on a Friday evening and was seated right away. The food was delicious. I plan on returning again.
It was a bit busy on a Friday evening but was seated within five minutes. The menu was small and they had a good beer and wine list. But it is expensive and the for the price I expect the food to be better and the taste was ok not great. The service was good and they were very attentive. I would not go again though.
So, I started off with Franklin’s Hefeweizen a brewery right down the road and all I can say is it was the best Hefe I have EVER had in my life. This one had a bit of a sweeter taste than most Hefe’s have, and although I don’t care for sweet beers, this one really knocked my socks off $6.50 for a pint. So much that I had to visit Franklin’s brewery a couple of nights late. So back to the Old Maryland Grill OMG. I also tried Franklin’s Bombshell Blonde and it was just “OK.” I ordered the crab cakes – it consisted of two smallish crab cakes for $34. They were perfectly cooked, but they were billed as being lump crab. Instead, it was shredded, so I wasn’t sure how much filler versus crab was in them. Even better than the crab cakes was the succotash. It consisted of lima beans, tomatoes, onions, smoked mushrooms and sweet corn. It’s a side dish for $8 and was actually large enough for two. It was cooked perfectly and had an awesome smoky taste to it. Succotash may not sound appetizing to some, but I can guarantee you that this dish was like paradise. If you make a trip out here, order it, and order it well! They have 48 wines served by the glass and four pages of wines by the bottle – I didn’t bother to count those.
Been here twice, once for happy hour once for dinner. The happy hour oysters prices were good and the house wine was high quality for the price. Would also recommend it for dinner, food was good and it was a romantic place to have a date night without kids.
We popped in for the first time today at 5. Very quiet, but people started filtering in. Nice, clean, easy conversational quiet dining ambiance. The service was fantastic, our server Isaac was exceptionally professional, attentive, polite, and still very very pleasant. So, why 5 stars? Because the combination of a superb meal - I have allergies and they accomodated me and went the extra mile to verify what I would be safe to have on the menu. My meal was cooked perfectly, was delicious, and the portions were perfect size. I will be a repeat customer.
Unfortunately there is no option for less than a 1raring. I made reservations for breakfast at 10:45 for my family of 5. We arrived and were seated only to be told we had to order lunch. Who wants lunch at 10:45?? We also have allergy concerns and breakfast is easier to Anaheim. I spoke to the manager and he confirmed that on busy weekends they stop making breakfast at 10:30. He couldn’t care less When I explained we would have to leave. It was not posted when I made a reservation and we were disappointed to say the least. We walked out. Rude and unreasonable.
Looks like a nice place, but not a great experience. Service was polite. I asked for one side not to be served with the plate but when it arrived, it was there. Then, when I cut into the steak is was closer to medium well then medium rare. They did go ahead and served me a new one after I pointed it out. After dinner, both myself and my SO had GI & gas issues we eat very different, both low carb, meals. Wasn't impressed with the flavor of anything served.
Nice restaurant and staff. Pretty good happy hour specials. Had an hour to kill late afternoon and ordered a few apps. Surprisingly good wings. Good oysters. Decent calamari but the sauce left a bit to be desired.
Went for dinner with my family but we were better off getting a reasonably priced and actually tasty food at Bentley’s. The food did not come out as described on the menu in any regard. Our waiter couldn’t answer any questions and didn’t even notice when my mom hadn’t touched her steak because it tasted bad. I mean at least he was nice. Wouldn’t come back.
Wow, an unexpected treat. I normally avoid hotel restaurants at all costs, but circumstances dictated that we take a chance on this one, and I'm really glad we did. For appetizers, we started with an adult version of fish sticks. Funny thing, some friends and I were talking the other day about how everyone loves fish sticks but we only buy them for kids anymore, so when I saw these on the menu "battered Cod sticks " I knew we had to get them. To be fair, they weren't like the crispy crunchy Gordon's fish sticks you are used to, but they are fun and delicious but let them cool off first. The coating is a puffy batter that is light and slightly sweet, like bread or maybe a beer batter, and the Cod strips are clean, fluffy, and well seasoned. A touch of tarter sauce and they are adult fish stick fun. The second appetizer we had was the little neck clams, sauteed in white wine and garlic, and they were phenomenal. There was enough garlic to cure the flu, but we couldn't stop eating them. The white wine and butter broth was well reduced so that there was no bitter alcohol taste, only a deep comforting flavor with a slightly sweet undertone that had been released from the garlic. I could easily have gotten that as a meal. And, I almost did because for my entree I had linguine with white clam sauce, and they were an extension of the flavor profile of the appetizer. I was so happy. Yes, I used the table bread to soak up the remaining broth and garlic. My table mate had some ribbon pasta looking dish with button mushrooms, and judging by the way he inhaled it, it was just as good as my dish. While writing this review I tried to find a menu online, but was only able to find pictures of what must be an old menu because most of the dishes were different. The menu I saw that someone posted on Yelp looked more like a sports bar menu, but the menu I had tonight was much more like a fine dining menu. In my search, it also looks like management recently changed to new management? If so, it appears it was a good change. So I guess, if you haven't eaten at Old Maryland Grill at College Park lately, then you haven't eaten at Old Maryland Grill. I will definitely go back, but next time I'll bring a toothbrush and some mouthwash so my wife doesn't complain when I get home.
