Old Montana Prison Museum

What an interesting piece of Montana history! There is so much to see. You definitely want to make sure and give yourself enough time to look at everything at the prison and all the other museums in town as well.

First of all Lisa was super nice and sweet. The prison part of the museum is large and very interesting and well worth a visit. It allows a view of prison life from both the inmates' as well as the guards' perspective. The auto museum is pretty amazing. It is quite large and jam packed with a century of cars. Set aside some time for it as well. The prison complex is pretty much untouched and I fear there is some decay going on. Also note that in the winter it is super cold (colder than outside) so bring a warm jacket.

We had a good time checking the old prison out. Going down into the solitary confinement called "the hole" was cold and dark. Seeing the tunnels that the guards used to get around was amazing. I would like to go back again some day.

Wow, what a great group of museums. This is worth the trip there. A walk thru an old prison, a car collection that rivals any big show, and a collection of western artifacts. This is really 3 decent sized museums. And a nice little community.

We absolutely had to stop and check out the two museums! Next time we'll we'll set aside a whole day to really take in all the history. Wow!
