So far Old School Auto is better than advertised. True to the name, before my '74 Grand Prix touched the garage the shop boss and his mechanic chopped it up and listed priorities on what I wanted done and totally honest on what could not be done! Within the first work week I my car was purrin' like a mean cat! Of course I was smiling like a Cheshire, even when handing over cash! We are not done yet, but it's ready to drive out if I desire. Great group of real old school people!
I have a ‘69 Ford F100 truck. I bought it as a project truck for me and my boys to work on. We had done a number of items ourselves, but got the end of our technical abilities and needed some professional assistance. I ended up taking the truck to Mark for one item. After getting into that one item, I decided to have Mark do a few more items to get our truck completely running and back on the road. I had some parts that I wanted to use that were different than OEM parts. Mark was able to use what I wanted. He had to custom fabricate some linkages to make it work. It took some time to make that work. Was it expensive, yes. But it was complete. Everything that I have done myself on this truck in the past year has been an adventure, and definitely has taken more work to do than I ever expected. But I really appreciate the work that Old School Auto has done to get it completed for me. In my experience, it is difficult to find somebody who has the knowledge to work on an old vehicle. From my viewpoint, Old School Auto has that expertise.
I had my 67 camaro in recently to install Dakota Digital Guages that I provided. The manufacturer of said gauges says it should take 3-4 hours to install. I also needed to have some minor wiring done to get my headlights working and some lose wires attached to the steering column. While there the alternator was also in need of repaired which again should have been a 1-2 hour job tops. I was charged $230 for a alternator that should have been around $130-$150 plus labor. The final bill when I came to pick up the car was over $3800 and was told it took 22 hours of labor for the work. Based on everything I can find online this should have had a total labor of less than 10 hours. That leads me to believe either the shop is completely incompetent or they have a business model of just ripping clients off. I would say absolutely avoid at all costs. I've had a new chrome serpentine system now installed, power sterring and power brakes installed at another shop all total cost less than what for some simple guages and alternator install here. Rip off artists.
Bought a beautiful 1990 Honda Prelude from guys who know how to serve their customers. Mark was super awesome to work with and even took care of me when there was issues with the vehicle shortly after getting it. Definitely check these guys out if you're in the market for a classic or need work done on one!!
