A friend invited me. Very unique. It was my first time there I liked the Cevapi and by looking at the menu I’m going back to try the stuffed cabbage and the goulash. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff Great place to experience food from Bosnia
Very nice restaurant, I ordered cevape, the bread was so soft, the meat was fresh off the grill, and the sauce was soooooooooo delicious, the service was outstanding, very friendly welcoming atmosphere seida the owner is one of a kind, this was my first time but definitely will not be my last, looking for a great place to eat with great people this is it.
Food is tasty! I had the gulas stew with mashed potatoes, and it tasted home made same as I cook at home, being Polish so points for that. The atmosphere is OK for a unassuming old world restaurant. Nothing fancy, but clean and maintained. The service was the big let down. As I walked in, a young lady sitting at table playing on a laptop told me "sit anywhere" without getting up or greeting. One visit to get the order, one visit to bring the food and that's it. Than I had to wait and wait for the bill, as she was busy on the laptop and socializing with the family that came over. Its a shame, because I like trying different restaurants and cuisines, and the food here was very good.
Visiting from Chicago, this is easily the best meal I’ve had in memory - far and away the best meal I’ve had in Arizona. The incredible depth of flavor catches you off guard given the straight forward look of the food. The chef is incredibly skillful and presents the food to you herself with a warm pride that I think is well deserved. We let her order for us. She gave us incredibly tender and well seasoned cevapi served with perfect fresh bread. Lamb so tender it fell easily off the bone with the slightest pressure from a fork - and the bones filled with rich marrow that came out easily like drinking from a straw. Perfect mashed potatoes. Perfect spinach pita. Pickled white peppers served home fermented sauerkraut that complimented the occasional heaviness of the meat. Simple, nourishing soup that could not have been improved. She presented our bill with a delicious Bosnian chocolate bar. I don’t ever write reviews, but I was just genuinely floored by this meal and hope as many people try it as possible. Spectacular restaurant!!!!!
Don't let the exterior fool you, Old Saraveyo is beautiful inside, with unique handcrafted decor. We went for a family birthday and the staff doted over our grandmother. The food was fantastic! Grilled meats, fresh salads, fresh bread and tangy feta. We ate and ate, then they brought put a cake! Wonderful place, just go.Food: 5/5
As a Greek this is the most genuine Balkan food you can find in the valley. 10/10 would come again everything was just perfect and the service was awesome too. Felt like home
Old Town Sarajevo Cuisine: Bosnian Halal: All Meats Stepping into this restaurant brings with it a rush of nostalgia for simpler times. At the entrance sits the owner who is muslim with family and friends chatting emphatically in their native Bosnian. A football banner adorns the counter with a pantry of Bosnian snacks for sale to the left. There is ample seating with two booths available last image. We started out with a cup of native Bosnian coffee, quite reminiscent of Turkish coffee. Strong, simple, and flavorful. Image 4 Sarma -> Stuffed Cabbage Cabbage leaves wrapped well seasoned ground beef. The cabbage and beef were cooked to perfection with every bite melting in your mouth. Image 2 Pljeskavica Punjena Gljivama -> beef patty with mushrooms served with homemade Lepina bread. Reminded me of a rustic style philly cheese steak. Image 3 Sis Kevap -> Kebab served with homemade Lepina Bread, sour cream, and relish. They call this a sausage on their menu, but it definitely resembles an Iraqi style kebab. The relish adds a hint of sweet which contrasts the sour cream perfectly. Best eaten with everything wrapped in the Lepina. Image 1 This restaurant serves a unique muslim cuisine we are not routinely exposed to in the US and provides a segue into learning about the rich cultural history of Bosnia. Will definitely be coming back again. For more halal/kosher restaurant reviews follow @halalphoenix on instagram.
Best cevapi in town, hands down! Very quaint restaurant with a uniquely European feel. The owners are very welcoming and sweet. The food is just as great! My wife and I ordered the Cevapi and Burek - both were delicious! I've been here a dozen times over the years and can't get myself to order anything other than the Cevapi. Although I'm sure everything on their menu would be just as good.
Cevape and stuffed cabbages were super good. So was coffee and baklava. Gf loved her soup and apple pastry. Would recommend to anybodyFood: 5/5
Great food. High prices. Bad customer service. Though I get the sense the latter would be great if I were Bosnian.
