What a wonderful experience for the entire family. My kids found lots of fun experiences and really enjoyed washing clothes. Using the trams to get to each area worked well and gave us a little break from walking. All the staff were very knowledgeable and really did a great job of explaining things to the kids, while also being informative to me as a history teacher. We are already planning on returning later in the year to see what changes with the seasons.
Fantastic! Everything is spread apart so it never feels crowded and there’s tons of walking—or tram stops if you prefer. So much history, nature, and beauty! Can’t wait to go back!!! $15 per person-excellent gift shop, friendly staff, spectacular interpretation; perfect place to let the kids “run around” The other guests were polite and minded their manners too, which is always a plus! Respect for each other, nature, and history was present everywhere! The only problem we had was the map distances weren’t to scale. The 0.3 mile trail was five times longer on the map than the 0.6mile trail.
My daughter took me there for Mother's day. I love history and this place is full of it. After checking my steps and converting them into miles we walked 6.5 miles and I would do it again. Doing something I love with one of my favorite people was an experience I will never forget. Thank you for providing a beautiful place to make a beautiful memory.
Lots to see, and nice to walk in good weather. Tram is handy for getting around when you need it. The reenactors were great - very friendly, and they really make the history come alive. There was a reenactment of a civil war training encampment there when we visited. So cool to watch and very educational. The reenactors are so willing to tell their stories. The property is very pretty, grounds are well kept, and the animals all look happy. I really enjoyed our visit, definitely a must for history buffs.
Great place to take your kids to see farm animals, various games and the bike exhibit. For the adults there’s things there that may interest you as well….. beer brewing, black smithing and plants. I think they could do a better job providing food options and bathrooms. It’s a lot of walking so wear good shoes and bring water. There’s fountains spread out throughout as well. There is a trolly that goes around too, but we wanted to tire out the kids. Also…. It would be great if we could take the dog, that was disappointing. There’s maps spread out too, so you always knew where you were. Friendly staff. Service members get in free, with six guests which was a bonus.

2nd visit. Brought my Mom for Mothers day. It was a beautiful day. We walked the entire thing and were exhausted at the end but we had a great time stopping at all the exhibits. Loved the more interactive stops. Our favorite was getting to dress up and ride the old bicycles at the Wheelmans club!Visited onPublic holidayWait time10–30 minReservation recommendedYesPrice for adult entryFree
Legends and Lore Halloween event was top notch! I am hard of hearing so couldn’t hear almost anything, however my son told me each story as we walked to the next - with amazing reviews!!! There was one stop again couldn’t hear a thing where the story teller was so captivating that I couldn’t look away! Excellent event! Had a fantastic time.
There is so much to see here! We visited the entire time they were open 10-4 and we still only saw 1 of the 3 villages! The grounds are kept pristine. The trams are great to get around and the people are so knowledgeable about the history! We will be going back in the future!
