I recommend Scott Stevens to any of my friends trying to take their fitness to the next level. He really is one of Omaha's best kept secrets. Scott has helped me recover from a back injury, drastically improve my flexibility and coordination, increase my strength with a form-first approach, improve my physique, and grow my knowledge of the human body and functional movements. I've worked with a gym buddies, personal trainers, and physical therapists. I lifted with barbells and dumbbells. I played multiple sports. I've now worked with Scott for 4 months, much of it through a back injury, and I've never felt this strong, stable, and powerful. Scott's teaching has really gone past the gym into my sports and everyday life. Not to mention he is an extremely nice, stand-up guy who is easy to communicate and work with. Scott is an extremely qualified as a personal trainer. He is well versed in StrongFirst methodology and Functional Movement Screening. Not sure what that means? Basically, he'll find areas that you can improve - flexibility, mobility, coordination, strength..., - provide you with intuitive drills and queues, and improve that area of weakness. All the while you see great results. Do your future self a favor and make an appointment for a movement assessment and kettlebell orientation with Scott Stevens.
I was searching for something "different" to kick start my weight loss. I found OEKB on Facebook and ended up calling John "Scott" Patrick Stevens. He IS highly respected in the field, personable, professional and approachable. I liked what he said enough to give it a shot; even though, I had zero experience or exposure to Kettlebell training. I started with a 21-day trial; and now, 5-months later I'm hooked, still going strong and GROWING STRONGER. I LOVE the time I get to spend at the gym and OEKB is the perfect gym for me. It is NOT a big, “meat market”. Quite the contrary, it IS a cozy studio of dedicated individuals with similar goals, who support, encourage and care about each other. OEKB is truly a no judgement zone, which is refreshing and liberating, YAY! The staff and fitness crew accept everyone as is and every skill level is welcome and encouraged. I feel secure and confident in my OEKB classes and I am “at home” enough to be my naturally, quirky self. Scott invests the time to get to know you and your aspirations. He asks pertinent questions, assesses what you need, what your abilities are and unveils your injury history. Using those tools he develops a custom training program, tailored to your individual desires, giving you expert instruction and personal attention. Scott keeps the class small 2-8 people to ensure everyone gets the individualized instruction they deserve. He teaches by example, demonstrating the techniques, then walking us thorough the moves and coaching each of us individually, as needed. He is keenly observant, with eagle eyes he keeps a constant vigil to ensure we employ proper form/posture, that we lift safely to prevent injuries and to guarantee we get the maximum possible benefit from the exercises. Believe me, he doesn’t miss ANYTHING. When necessary, he offers supportive feedback and constructive instruction to improve the movement. I love Scott's teaching methods. He adapts the maneuvers to each individual’s skills keeping the workouts challenging but doable for all. He makes the movements and techniques understandable; if, however, you don't get it the first time Scott adjusts his approach and offers alternative directions and explanations until it is clear. You truly get one on one attention, he's cool like that. Our program is so much MORE than just Kettlebell training. It is a multi-faceted work out plan which includes: Kettlebell-swings, presses, get ups, snatches, dead lifts, circuit training, planking, squats, pushups, mountain climbers, TRX rows, "hammer time" my favorite, lat pulls, battle ropes, sled pushes/pulls, step ups, walking/running homework…. a continual variety of movements. Following a progressive approach, additional exercises, heavier weights and enhanced degrees of difficulty are added as our skill levels improve. Scott has outstanding credentials, with expertise and skills which by far exceeded my expectations. A professionally certified, StrongFirst trainer, his background is extensive with many certifications to his credit. This making him a highly qualified and knowledgeable instructor. He is completely dedicated to his craft and to helping people reach their fitness goals. Scott definitely practices what he preaches. His talent and personal strength are impressive and inspiring, yet he is quite humble. You can tell he lives what he teaches. He is a phenomenal role model whom I truly respect and admire. AND he is FUNNY! If a leaner, stronger body is your objective, then OEKB is made for you and Scott Stevens is the best qualified trainer, bar none. THE trainer who can help you achieve your desired results. I am just now, beginning to realize, what a profound impact Scott has had on my life and my physical transformation so far. I am thrilled and proud to call Scott Stevens my coach/trainer but even more lucky to count him among my friends! I came to Omaha Elite Kettlebell because I knew I wanted to be taught by someone who is StrongFirst certified and that is how I found John Scott Patrick Stevens. I signed up for an 8 self-paced lesson Introductory Kettlebell course. That decision turned out to be THE BEST Investment I have EVER made in my personal fitness. John Scott is an EXCEPTIONAL personal trainer/coach with extensive experience, expertise and knowledge in many areas. Expect to be challenged and motivated to do and be your very best. Safety, form and moving well are of utmost importance. The progress that I made after a few lessons absolutely shocked me. When I first started, I was swinging a 25lb kettlebell. By lesson 8 I was swinging 40k or 88lbs! I then signed up for two more self-paced courses gaining strength and skill in Get Ups, Squats, Deadlifts. Presses, Swings, and Snatches. I'm now currently enrolled in The Amazing 12 Week Physique and absolutely LOVING IT! With the focus on Strength, Nutrition, Weight loss or gain depending on your goals, it's an Incredible challenge, and I can already tell it's going to be life changing for me! Since Scott has so many certifications and areas of expertise, I promise you won't get bored on your fitness journey. Whatever your fitness goals are, Scott is your guide to achieve them.
I took part in the Amazing 12 program twice and I can't say enough great things about the program and especially Scott as a trainer. It is a great, no nonsense approach to body transformation and the support and guidance is spot on. At almost 40 years old I was able to drop down to my high school waist size in just 3 months! I also learned more about nutrition in the first month of working with Scott than I'd learned over years of trying to follow more complicated programs. I finished the program in the best shape of my life and it's honestly the best I've ever felt in my life. Scott's training style is also very refreshing, he truly cares about his clients and wants them to succeed and it shows when you work with him.
The classes are challenging yet well suited and designed for all fitness/experience levels. My overall strength, flexibility and stamina have improved greatly over a short period of time.
