Best experience i've ever gotten : really kind and patient staff. It was my first time getting contact lenses. I had a hard time putting them on my eyes and they helped me out! <3
PLEASE READ!!!!! I didn’t wanna ruin the Doctors ratings because him as an individual was understanding and helped me right away and knew what he was talking about, BUT HIS ASSISTANT who I believe name was Gabriel and the only other man there helped me at first. He was snarky and didn’t seem to have the best intentions. So I got my eyes checked and I wanted contacts and glasses. This guy tells me my insurance covers glasses so I should get them anyway, however when it came to showing me glasses he only showed me raybans which were out of my budget. He told me the price of contacts and glasses would be $729 I thought that was expensive but I’m assuming it was mostly the raybans, so I said I didn’t want the raybans and his expressions changed and aggressively crossed out the paper work he had been filling. He didn’t even bother to show me glasses my insurance would cover. So since I opted out for just contacts it ended up being $400 which at first I thought was overpriced but I didn’t question it. I thought with how expensive the contacts were they could give me more samples since they just had given me one which I was already wearing and were daily disposables. I asked if I was getting a lense case he cut me off and said you just wear those for the day and throw them out and told me to have a nice day I was all set. I found it weird they didn’t give me any paper work with my prescription and just said they’d call me when the contacts would be ready. It wasn’t until after I spoke to my friend who had gotten contacts from another place and received several samples to see the comfort and also found it weird that I was asked for a full deposit up front and I realized after that they don’t even give deposit refunds. This place is a scam and they just want your money. I feel bad because the doctor is nice and professional. I hope he gets a new staff.
Optimum eye Care is trying to scam people be careful. First when checking in they asked me for both my eye med insurance and then also wanted my regular health insurance information in case there were any "extra tests" then before the exam even began the woman started telling me about all kinds of fees and tests that would not be covered by my insurance and would be required to obtain my contact lens prescription I have never had this before optimum eye Care is scamming its patients and customers be careful
What Kevin down there said is true. They put in codes to my insurance for tests/services I never got/consented to. When I called them to ask about them, the woman said “oh don’t worry- if you get a bill, you don’t have to pay any of that. I’ll contact insurance.” Yeah.. because they were busted. This place is committing downright insurance fraud.
Front desk girl is very unprofessional! She isn't welcoming to new or returning customers, if you're not ready to make a purchase at the moment she would give you an attitude. Never had this type of service in any other optometry office. I used them last year for both glasses and eye contacts but definitely not going back.
I received great service, the staff was very nice, and I was seen quickly. The doctor was personable and very patient during my exam. I called after my appointment with some additional questions and the staff was so nice, thoroughly answering everything in a way that made sense.
I rate this place minus zero. The rudest treatment ever received. The person in crutches, who I had the misfortune of dealing with, first called herself Maria then lied & told me her name was Lisa when I asked to speak to the owner to complain of her treatment of me, a customer. I worked in a service industry for thirty years and would never in my wildest dream lie to people, refuse to have them speak to the owner or higher up and yell at them at any time, as she did for daring to let her know I was on to her, calling me rude continuously. She asks me for my insurance - I give it to her and then she charges me the full amount. Then when I question her about it, instead of giving me a professional explanation, she talks down to me and says " You're the one who gave us your card- we didn't ask for it ". Really??? then why did you ask for the primary Insured's name and date of birth ? .... but I'm the crazy one. This woman should not be let out of the house. She gave me nothing but a small receipt with nothing more than the charge which was allot . When I asked her to send me a full receipt with a breakdown of the charges after having spoken to my Insurance Company who told me it wasn't enough, , she tells me " we don't do that ???? Really - what do you do, aside from talking down to people. What hell hole does this Neanderthal come from? I apologize for these words but this is definitely a sub creature we're dealing with here. Why would she ever try to sell anything to anyone? She wouldn't let me speak to anyone in charge, refused to send me an itemized bill for my Insurance and then refused to cancel my order when I've had enough. . If you do nothing else in your life, please avoid this place like the plague as long as this creature is still there.
So here's the saga that makes me wish I could give them zero stars. 1. I've been going here for a couple of years; Dr Vu was my doctor when I first starting coming in, and I liked her very much. She's no longer there are as far as I can tell. My last official contacts exam was June 2015 during which I sat in the waiting room for fifteen minutes after my exam was done because I knew I hadn't paid my copay...I could have just walked out without paying and they wouldn't have noticed. I order a six-month supply of contacts at that time. 2. In December 2015, I call them to order more since I am on my last pair. They're already on my eyeballs, and the box with my prescription on it is in the recycling. That pair will be worn out by mid-January, so I call a couple weeks before Christmas to make sure I have plenty of time. When I call, they say they can't find the paper copy of my prescription. I ask if they can look up their insurance claim records since my vision insurance paid for part of my June 2015 order. They say their system is down and ask if I still have the box so I can just tell them what my prescription is. I don't. This process has already gotten me frustrated, and the staffer on the phone gets mad at ME. 3. I wait until the first week of January to call again. It's after the holidays, and surely their system is back up. It is, but they have no record of the insurance claim. Neither do they have a record of ordering my contacts, which are strong enough that they don't regularly have them in stock. And they still can't find the paper copy of my prescription. They ask me to come in for an appointment to get my eyes reexamined. I decline, because I was just there in June 2015. They have no record of my June 2015 visit at all. 4. I wait a couple more weeks to book the appointment because just talking to them on the phone is infuriating. I inform them that I will not be paying for the reexamination. They reschedule the appointment twice. One of those reschedulings came about because, when I signed in fifteen minutes before my appointment time, they were vastly behind schedule. After waiting for twenty minutes, they asked me to come back in an hour. After coming back in an hour, they said they wouldn't be able to get me in before they closed. In an hour. 5. I finally get reexamined in February 2016. It's not until I go to pick up my new contacts the next week that I realize the doctor - not Dr. Vu - prescribes me two different strengths that are both weaker than I've had before. I try them for a month because what do I know? Maybe my eyes have changed. They haven't. My right eye is blurry and I get headaches. 6. In March 2016, I schedule yet another reexamination, which is again rescheduled twice. I finally end up getting reexamined on May 2, and I am going to pick up replacement contacts tomorrow. This is nearly four months after my last pair of contacts were used up and almost six months after I first called to order new ones.
Optimum Eye Care has provided Astorians with outstanding professional services. The staff is not only kind and caring but always willing to go an extra mile for you as a patient. They are very knowledgeble also when it comes to administrative issues with insurances and other service providers. If insurance does not cover much for you, they will still consider a discount. Also, they are honest professionals that will never take advantage of you!! My parents have a full satisfaction of their Doctors's accuracy in determing the glasses' numbers. Anywhere else it was a waste of time , money and pure ripe off. We are truly blessed to having you in the midst of our Astorian Communities. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!
My first exam for lenses was 1hr 10 minutes late. ! Sat there forever. Then I came in to buy more lenses and they were having some records update issue and told me I had to have a re exam but would need to make appointment. Ok... days later I am now sitting in office already half hour behind my scheduled exam time. Told.me 15 more minutes. This place.... wow.
