Cannot understand how a hospital will not let you visit your loved ones. Mandates are being dropped everywhere and you have family dying in there and only one person can go see them. This policy makes no sense when you have thousands of people bustling through their everyday. The staff at the door are completely ignorant to families feelings coming into the hospital. Too busy on their cell phones to even make eye contact when you come in.
Such a positive, healing environment! Staff really seem to care and be resourceful, and the providers are sharp. You and your loved ones are in good hands. The views are spectacular and therapeutic, both Helens and Hood visible on clear days.
My mother was told by her primary care doctor to go to this hospital to see a toxicologist. She was told to check in to the emergency room. She has now been waiting to be seen over 14 hours. She checked in around 2pm on 10/5/22 and is having to leave to another hospital 5:58am on 10/6/22. Another patient who has been waiting just as long told the staff that he needs to be seen and will call an ambulance. The staff threatened him that they would tell Medicare not to pay if he called an ambulance. The staff and hospital should be audited for elderly abuse. I have told my mother we should go to another near by hospital because if the staff is this neglectful for the elderly in an emergency room situation they bound to make matters worse if they see her. I would stay far away from this emergency room unless you don't mind waiting 14+ hours for treatment. Or just call the ambulance initially so they get you right back.
The nicu nurses are phenomenal! Only a couple I didn't like. My son was born a month early due to complications, and they took excellent care of him and me! He had a hard time keeping his stats up and with eating and gave us all numerous scares! They are the most wonderful people ever! He is turning 2 in February. He's my little Evil Knievel! Thank you for everything you do!
OHSU Hospital is the most beautiful Heaven on earth I’ve ever seen. And the people there are the best. I volunteer there n it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life. The management system at the volunteer office are the very best people n the same goes for every member of the consergire at the main hospital as well. I’ve made a commitment to volunteer there for the rest of my life. And when I’m not there I do indeed miss it
Our son was airlifted to OSHU and spent 5 days at the TSICU. The doctors are professional and timely and personal. I was so thankful for each one of the doctors and nurses as they took attentive care of our son. When we arrived home I needed to call the trauma center a few times and the doctors were just as caring and helpful over the phone which was a relief to me.
Our youngest son, who is severely handicapped was taken by ambulance to the ER at OHSU. He was very ill with influenza and pneumonia. Given the time that our son was at this hospital, he received the very best professional care available. The staff members who stand out are Anzu and Allison plus several others did a outstanding professional care for our son. I want to thank all of you!
Had a total knee done by Dr Schabel. Did not go well from start. After a rough 3 months it settled down but at a year the knee would drastically swell up and I was unable to walk. On crutches and confined to the couch it took an act of God to see Dr Schabel. Her staff seemed to be under instructions to put people off. When I was finally able to see her she did not even re exam the knee and seemed at a loss for what to do. Just wanted to ignore the problem and hope it would resolve. Was able to get into an outside physician who felt the hardware was loose and I needed a redo. Dr Schabel was dismissive of this, but had no answers and did not appear interested in solving the problem. Did undergo a redo with the outside physician and the hardware was drastically loose and popped off without any effort. Did communicate this to Dr Schabel but she did not seem to care enough to get back to me. Now 12 weeks post second surgery and doing great. Can walk and bike and the recovery is so much easier than after the first surgery. Don't know what went wrong with he first surgery, but Dr Schabel did not seem to be able to handle the problem.
I was recently diagnosed with a health condition and referred to a specialist and told their office will call me to schedule an appointment. It took over a month for them to call me and the earliest I can see them and therefore start treatment is almost 10 months away. If you can, try to get treatment elsewhere.
Procrastination, bad communication, pompous surgeon in gastrointestinal department. We are afraid our daughter will die from esophageal cancer because of above reasons. Surgery should have happened at least 2 months ago but was pushed back for so long and now it may be too late!
