Review for breakfast breads and bagels only. Breads were cool by 8AM. Pletzel was a favorite—ample seasoning and great with some goat cheese and lox purchased elsewhere. Bagels on the smaller side and pricey, but standard for the area; better value if made at home, but satisfying on the run. 4 - Will return regularly.
People who visit quality businesses in NYC and complain about lines and items being sold out late in the day should honestly be banned from being able to review places. Like, what did you expect?! Orwashers is an amazing bakery. We tried their salmon & dill cream cheese breakfast sandwich, chocolate almond croissant, multigrain bread, seeded rye bread, mini black & whites, and all three flavors of rugelach. Everything was very good, and the only thing that I thought was priced a bit high for what it was was the small boxes of rugelach that were over $12. Then again it's quality ingredients and there is a bit of effort that goes into making it so I'm honestly still going to come back and buy them And there's also a million other things i saw that I wanted to get but...til next time. The one annoying thing was that i did have to remind the cashier that I was still missing items from my order, but i did order a lot and it was early in the day. But just make sure you pay attention, and they'll take care of you.
Love Orwashers so much! Their sourdough loaves are incredible. Pastries just divine. Donuts have a good amount of filling and are simple but delicious.
Always been a fan of this bakery, but this time, when I visited NYC 8 months after leaving here for southern California, this was the one place in the UES I really wanted to go get some stuff from. My friends got the sourdough bread which they love, and I got the butter, almond, and chocolate croissants which were all great! Made for some great post-tennis nutrition!
Service: Quick and fast. All the employees acknowledge you and take your order and keep things moving Food: The bagel I got was fine. It was everything I expected from an everything bagel. But I also got an Arnold Palmer to drink and it was absolutely disgusting. It was so sour tasting, I could not finish it. There was definitely too much sour lemonade and too little iced tea. Verdict: Don’t get an Arnold Palmer from here.
Their cold brew is to die for. The almond croissant is buttery, flakey, and not too sweet. The paun au chocolate hit all the right notes. We bought all of these and hang out by the Jay's Park while enjoying the breeze from the East River. Needless to say, we had a good day.
Jelly filled donut, raspberry rugelach, and the Nutella babka loaf were all delicious, and you can choose the quantity of rugelach in-store don’t have to buy the boxes. No sit-down that I saw, but store was clean.
No trip to the Upper East Side should be devoid of a visit to this historic baking establishment. I have been on a hunt for the best regular croissants in NYC and Orwashers is right up there in at least top 5. It is consistently flaky, buttery but has good density. Perfect for afternoon coffee. Also the sourdough, strawberry rhubarb doughnuts and sticky babka are essential binges. I'm so happy that such bakeries are still in gentrified NYC.
the pastries are phenomenal and were a big hit for our holiday party, especially the croissants. things are a little expensive, but on par with other prices in the neighborhood. however, we had a horrible experience with online pick-up. the staff were truly just nasty and condescending. it was our first time in and we didn’t know the online pick-up protocol. psa: if you have an online pick-up order, have your confirmation email ready they won’t just take your name and be ready to argue with the line of people yelling at you for “cutting the line” just to grab your order. i try to support my neighborhood businesses but asking for a little kindness in a place whose livelihood thrives on referrals via word of mouth and reviews isn’t asking for much.
One of my favorite bagels. Really cute place and I want to try more of their items. Only thing is they often seem confused with taking orders and I recently waited 15-20 mins for a toasted bagel and drip coffee when there was only one other patron there.
