Edit: let me clarify, ICU and above 10/10. They did save my life. This review is based off my treatment once on the regular floor, 5th floor. Most all nurses on the 5th were great but the one that laughed when I requested a room change I won't forget. Once you're out of ICU on floor 5, they stop caring. They skip your pain meds if your asleep, they starved me 7 out of 9 days with cancelled surgeries, this is torture. The room I have is depressing, falling apart, can't see a window or clock. I try to complain but a nurse laughed and doctors don't care. This place is a dark hole of depressing work. I wish I could leave. Its the worst care I could imagine once out of icu. Again, not the nurse fault they were great. It was the hospital as a whole . Once again let me state that the surgeon, ICU, and those associated staff, 10 out of 10, this is reflective of floor 5 treatment.
Ran 2 hrs late beginning surgery. Most uncomfortable chairs in waiting area! The surgeon never came out to talk to us after. That is their job! Especially after they remove a large tumor from someone's brain. Food in cafeteria was the worst ever! And the employees weren't nice in the cafeteria. Acted like they didn't want to be there. 10 hrs there and it was awful the whole time.
I had a horrible and very traumatizing experience with OU. I arrived at Labor & Delivery in active labor and the hospital staff refused to admit me because I didn't have an induction scheduled and I wasn't dilated as much as they thought I should be. The majority of the staff I dealt with were cold and condescending. They wouldn't let me stay and sent me home where I then had to deliver my baby by myself with no medical help. He was born just 2 short hours after arriving home. We are so fortunate that both my baby and I were okay. I can't even imagine what would have happened if anything went wrong. If you're wanting to deliver here without being induced or be treated with any sort of respect, this is NOT the hospital for you. I was warned by several people this was not a good hospital and I wish I would have listened. I want to make sure no one else has to go through the same experience I did. I would leave 0 stars if I could.
Not a good experience, the nurses we very nice, but sitting in room with my 95 yr old father, I was asked to help turn him for bed change, help dressing wound, adjusting him in bed. Finally saw a doctor after 5 days of him just laying in bed after hip surgery. Didn’t receive the care I felt should have been. The 1 star Is for friendly nurses. Not saying much for anything else.
I was very pleased with the care and treatment my husband received on his 4 day stay. The nurses, physicians, and everyone that was involved in his care was fantastic .. They all went above and beyond their job duties and we will be forever grateful.. Great Job ladies and gents!!!
This hospital is the worst I just got discharged yesterday and let me tell you it’s awful!!! My surgeon was amazing he gave me my life back but the hospital was awful! They left me in a bloody gown. They didn’t give me a chance to walk after my surgery like I was supposed to! Only 3 times I got helped getting up the rest of the time my husband took care of me! The nurses on night shift are awful!! It’s a big communication barrier because they are all foreign which I have no problem with other than the fact of communication barriers I was taken to a floor that was step down icu after I had a laminectomy and no one seemed like they knew what to do! No one gave me like the leg compression after surgery because they said they didn’t have the equipment and I had blood all over me! They said they didn’t have any gowns for me to change into they didn’t show me how I was supposed to move or anything I legit got no help! It was awful
The staff at OU Hospital does not care about the patient or taking care of the patient. The nurses and doctors are argumentative. They do not listen to the patient or take the families concerns about the care of their family member seriously. As a teaching hospital, what kind of nurses and doctors do they think the people they are teaching are going to be when they teachers don't care. I know hospitals are short staffed since the Covid Pandemic. That does not give the staff reason to neglect the care the patient receives.i rated a one because ZERO wasn't an option.
They are routinely running way late which is super disrespectful of their patient's time. Secondly, at least one of their billing policies is very unfair to the patient. If the patient has insurance but it is cheaper to self-pay, there is no way to self-pay as the insurance is auto-run. In this instance, self-pay is 1/3 the cost. I bet this policy makes it easier for OU Health at the expense of their patient. After my treatment is done, I will never visit another OU clinic if I can help it.
The hospital isn't clean patients rooms are dirty and the bathroom s are dirty in the room s ason the floor..the nurses are rude and don't care for the patients in a timely matter refuse to answer. Questions or explain to the family as what is going. As for this hospital they really need to train their nurses better as cleaning staff I would never suggest any one send their family members their if they truly care about them.
I didn't know that I would like being treated at a teaching hospital until last night. I had been bleeding from my cancer wound on my head all day and my wife took me to O.U. Emergency Room and they treated me like I was the most important person there. Before I thought I would be treated like a guinea pig because it is a teaching hospital. It is THE BEST!!!!!!!
